Lincoln Park, NJ

Meadows Golf Club

In a region laden with private clubs and expensive public-access courses, Meadows Golf Club in Lincoln Park, New Jersey stands out as a fun, sporty layout that offers good value with its affordable tee times. It’ s an ideal option for a casual round that all levels of players can enjoy. The golf course, which dates back to 1964, tucks into a compact, 108-acre site with no housing to intrude on the golf grounds. Meadows Golf Club is a par-70 layout with four par 3s and just two par 5s. The forward markers measure 4,965 yards, the middle tees play at 6,035 yards, and the tips max out at 6,345 yards. Slightly elevated tee boxes show the challenge ahead on each hole. Mature trees line the tight fairways on this routing that features numerous holes situated side-by-side. On a few holes, tee shots emerge from chutes of trees that open up to somewhat wider fairway landing zones. Ponds and wetlands also dot the predominantly flat, low-lying golf grounds and factor into play on half of the holes. Both nines finish with formidable tests. Meadows Golf Club boasts that the 9th hole is one of the strongest par 3s in New Jersey due to its length and its elevated green defended by a pond, bunkers, and out of bounds. Water and trees flank either side of the slight dogleg-left par-4 18th all the way from the tee boxes to the wide and deep green. Many of the greens are slightly elevated. Accuracy is crucial at Meadows Golf Club, especially on the narrow front nine. The back nine opens up a bit. Because the holes are bunched close together, this is a nice course to walk. Just be sure to always stay alert for stray shots at Meadows Golf Club. In 2020 the club began a five-year project to convert all of its fairways and tee boxes to bent grass. Practice facilities are limited to a putting green and chipping area. The club does not have a driving range. Besides the golf shop, the clubhouse is home to a cafe where you can get breakfast and lunch. The next time you’ re looking for a sporty and affordable course in Morris County, New Jersey, consider a tee time at Meadows Golf Club.

Mount Holly, NJ

Springfield Golf Center

The Springfield Golf Center golf course, although shorter than most, is fun, fair and plenty challenging for golfers of every skill level. It features six par-3s, ten par-4s, and two par-5s allowing it to play a bit longer than its par-68, would indicate. Beginner golfers love it because it's fair and allows them an opportunity to learn the game without feeling overwhelmed. Advanced players love it because it gives them an opportunity to make birdies like the pros and really tests their ability to execute all the shots required to be a better player. Many better players like to use the course to work on their long iron game by keeping driver in the bag and just gripping and ripping the ball down the fairway with their long sticks. Our golf course really has something for everyone!

Brigantine Golf Links

Brigantine Golf Links, owned by the City of Brigantine Beach, New Jersey, is a historic and unique links course that should be a must-play for anyone near Atlantic City. Built during the golden age of golf course architecture, this atmospheric 1927 creation by the highly regarded design duo of, Wayne Stile and Jon Van Kleek spreads out on a barrier island just across the bay from Atlantic City. It is actually the closest layout to the iconic Boardwalk and casinos. Brigantine Golf Links is notable for being one of the best value courses in South New Jersey. Thanks to a long-term renovation project, the layout has been restored to its original links heritage. The nearly treeless Brigantine Golf Links features four sets of tee markers that give players distance options ranging from as short as 5,053 yards to as long as 6,507 yards. The wide open, gently rolling, sand-based terrain rambles over natural dunes and berms and around native marshes. Creeks, ponds, and tidal inlets enter the fray on no fewer than fourteen holes, but wind has an even greater impact on the game. Brigantine Golf Links boasts a nice collection of par 3s and reachable par 5s where you can do your scoring. Its small, undulating greens roll smoothly and have earned widespread praise for being among the finest putting surfaces in Southern New Jersey. Brigantine Golf Links is a shotmaker’ s course that truly gives you a feel for the Scottish game as it was originally played. Opportunities to hit creative bump-and-run shots that ride the mounds and natural contours of the land add to the fun. In the process, you’ ll see plenty of birdlife and wildlife on this National Audubon Sanctuary. Another neat thing about having a tee time at Brigantine Golf Links is that you'll be walking in historic footprints. Club lore suggests that the legendary Walter Hagen and Harry Vardon practiced at Brigantine Golf Links in its early years before they sailed off across the Atlantic to compete in the Open Championship. If you want to warm up before your round, the course does not have a driving range. Practice facilities are limited to a putting green where you can putt and chip. Brigantine Golf Links’ s clubhouse features a pro shop and a snack area. Short Hills, NJ

East Orange Golf Course

East Orange Golf Course is a sporty, municipally-owned golf course with a devoted following in Short Hills, New Jersey. Golf on the site, which is near the Garden State Parkway and I-280, dates back to 1926. That’ s when Tom Bendelow, a prolific Scottish-America Golden Age architect (nicknamed ‘ The Johnny Appleseed of American golf’ ), laid out the course. For years the golf grounds were neglected, but Stephen Kay performed a much-needed renovation in 2015 that has revitalized, modernized and improved the playing field while retaining its vintage feel. East Orange Golf Course is a short and fun layout with no houses around. Enveloped by mature trees, the par-70 layout features three sets of tee markers that enable play from as short as 4,725 yards and as long as 5,687 yards. The course is well suited for novices, families, and anyone looking for a shorter test that is quite relaxing. In fact, the flat playing field is largely devoid of trouble other than rough and trees. There are no water hazards on the property and just a few sand traps to help defend par. The greens present some challenges because they are elevated, but they don’ t have any dramatic undulations or slopes. East Orange Golf Course is a very straightforward layout with a few attractive doglegs to lend variety to the game. The course spreads out nicely and is well suited for walking. Chances are you’ ll see players opting to make their way around on foot. Stephen Kay’ s improvements included building two new holes, resodding the greens with a better strain of bentgrass, rebuilding the tee boxes and bunkers, adding a new irrigation system, and creating new practice facilities. For those who like to warm up before their round, East Orange Golf Course has a driving range, chipping green and putting green. The club also boasts a new clubhouse with a rather spartan golf shop and a restaurant. East Orange Golf Course isn’ t the type of course that will challenge low handicap players, but it is a short, attractive, and tranquil layout suitable for all levels of players, and it can be a nice introduction to the game for new players.
