Marlton, NJ

The Links Golf Club

Taking advantage of a beautiful natural wooded setting, The Links Golf Club provides an enjoyable test of golf that's fun for all levels of players. Designed by Fred Hwatree and opened in 1976, the par-71 or par 72 course (depending on which tees you play) has four sets of tees, ranging from 5,485 yards to 6,758 yards. Hawtree stayed true to his design philosophy here, letting the site dictate the character of the course. Nothing at The Links Golf Club is forced or artificial, as he routed the holes through trees and naturally rolling terrain to create one good hole after another. The fairways do tend to be a bit narrow, and the greens are well-protected by bunkers, so it's certainly a challenging layout, even for better players. This is a course that's about positioning, accuracy and course management. The no. 1 handicap hole is the second longest hole on the course -- the 550-yard, par-5 seventh (the par-5 13th is 575 yards). This slight double dogleg is very tight, tree-lined on both sides of the fairway, requiring players to be able to shape shots or at the very least, hit a straight ball to precise landing areas to set up layups and approach shots to a green that's tucked in behind the trees. Both the fairways and greens are bentgrass, and they are surrounded by oaks, maple, Sweetgum, and pine trees. Water comes into play on the eighth, 11th and 18th holes. Besides the golf course, The Links Golf Club also has excellent practice facilities that include a driving range, short-game practice area, and putting green. The club also has a golf academy as well as a well-stocked golf shop, and restaurant. The Pub at the Links is a casual dining space with both indoor and outdoor dining.

Course photo for White Oaks Country ClubPublic tee-time evidence

Newfield, NJ

White Oaks Country Club

The par 71, 6,500-yard, 18-hole layout, features dramatically tall oak trees lining and separating all holes. The natural sloping of the golf course emphasizes pinpoint positioning of golf shots. This is especially true on two of White Oaks' many signature holes. They include the "whopping" 621-yard, par 5 #7 and the biting par 4 #9 hole, where golfers are forced to hit their second shot over a deceiving double green, guarded by water. On the tee, in the Pro Shop or on the golf course, White Oaks takes pride in extending friendliness and sense of "community" to its golfers. This philosophy is mirrored by the golf course maintenance team, which makes certain turf conditions are pristine each time you play.
