Michigan City Golf Course - North

Just because the North Course at Michigan City Golf Course is an 18-hole executive-style layout, don’ t think it has to play second fiddle at Michigan City, Indiana’ s impressive 36-hole municipal facility. Whereas the South Course is a par-72 regulation-length 18, it’ s actually the shorter, par-60 North Course, located just across the street, that has enjoyed wide acclaim. Golf Advisor has had it on its list of the Top Courses in Indiana. Whether you are a novice looking for a friendly place to start playing or a proficient golfer trying to hone your skills, the North Course at Michigan City Golf Course offers everything you’ ll want. It should also be a quicker round if you are constrained for time. The playing field spreads out in a tranquil wooded setting with mature trees lining the fairways. You’ ll find straightaway and dogleg holes, sand bunkers guarding several of the greens, and plenty of water hazards. Ponds come into play on the North Course at Michigan City Golf Course on no fewer than eight holes, most of which are on the back nine. The front nine allows you to ease into the round, as it rambles over flat terrain that is almost trouble-free. When you get to the back nine you’ ll encounter hillier ground and tougher holes with hazards. Each nine of the routing plays to a par 30 with six par 3s and three par 4s. Although there are three sets of tee markers on every hole, in several instances they are placed together so everyone plays from the same distance. From the back markers, the holes range in length from 97 yards to 335 yards. If you opt to utilize the forward markers, each test measures between 80 yards and 335 yards. While the course is pleasant to walk (pull carts are available), the vast majority of players opt for carts. Players who want to warm up before their round at the North Course at Michigan City Golf Course should head across the road to the South Course where practice greens and a short game area are located. The Michigan City Golf Course clubhouse is also at the South Course. Amenities include a pro shop and a snack shop and bar where you can get beer and wine. Be advised that the North Course closes for the season at the very end of October. For a fine practice course or a fun round on a pleasantly varied, beginner-friendly layout, make a tee time to play the executive-style North Course at Michigan City Golf Course.

Upper Marlboro, MD

Oak Creek Golf Club

Located just a short drive from Washington, D.C., Oak Creek Golf Club anchors a gated community in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. The 18-hole championship layout, which has made Golf Advisor’ s list of the Top Courses in Maryland multiple times, is a popular tee time for golfers all throughout Prince George’ s County. The golf course architecture firm of Ault, Clark and Associates laid out this originally private golf course in 2007, but like so many facilities that debuted around that time, it fell upon hard times and eventually wound up closing. After some modifications were made to improve the playability of the course, it reopened under new ownership in 2015 as a public facility. Nowadays, the layout is a treat for both experienced and novice golfers. Six sets of tees allow players to take it on from a manageable distance. The forward markers play at 4,443 yards while the championship tees max out at 6,980 yards. You’ ll need to hit it straight here. Oak Creek Golf Club is a shotmaker’ s course that plays a little harder than its rating due to the tightness of the fairways and the thick woods that almost certainly draw a penalty from errant shots. Water hazards aren’ t a big concern, as there are only a couple of forced carries at Oak Creek Golf Club. The turf is a strong suit of the club. Players love the consistency of the well-groomed Bermuda fairways. The greens present fairly wide targets. Breaks on the putting surfaces tend to be subtle. Oak Creek Golf Club’ s practice facilities include a driving range, a sand bunker, and a small putting green. The clubhouse is home to a nice pro shop and a restaurant. The club hosts a lot of outings and when those occur the restaurant typically is closed to public players. With its interesting variety of holes and course conditions that rival those of the finest public facilities in the region, it’ s easy to see why Oak Creek Golf Club is such a popular tee time in Prince George’ s County.

Camlachie, ON

Sawmill Creek Golf Resort & Spa

Sawmill Creek Golf Resort & Spa Sawmill Creek, established in 1999, is currently undergoing significant enhancements, with updated sand for the bunkers and a new team in place, indicating a bright future. It was originally designed by Doug Carrick and later upgraded by Rene Muylaert, attracting golfers from across the region, including Windsor, London, and Kitchener-Waterloo. The club maintains a limited membership policy to reduce competition for tee times. The course is a par 71, with six par-threes, four par-fives, and eight par-fours, stretching 6,281 yards from the black tees and 5,053 yards from the forward tees. Its fescue-lined fairways give it a contemporary links-style appearance. Notably, LPGA star Brooke Henderson competed here during the 2010 Canadian Junior Women's Championships. For optimal play at Sawmill Creek, keep your shots in play, aim for the flatter areas on the greens, and avoid overly aggressive putting. The clubhouse is designed in a Victorian style and features six rooms available for "Stay 'n Play" packages, as well as a popular patio and pub. The main dining room can accommodate up to 200 guests, making it ideal for weddings and tournaments, while the patio serves a variety of pub-style dishes. For information on tournaments or wedding planning, contact our Pro Shop or Hospitality Department. Custom wedding menus and tasting sessions are available with our chef, providing a unique and memorable experience for your special day.
