Braselton, GA

Chateau Elan Golf Club

The Chateau Course at Chateau Elan Golf Club is the marquee layout at a 45-hole club and luxury resort in Braselton, Georgia, about 45 miles northeast of downtown Atlanta. Although the golf club is a chief amenity of Chateau Elan Winery & Resort, overnight stays are not required to play any of the courses. Course architect Denis Griffiths laid out the Chateau Course at Chateau Elan Golf Club in 1989 and he came back in 2016 to touch it up. When it opened, it garnered attention for being one of the best courses in Georgia and ever since it has remained a premier public tee time in the Atlanta metropolitan area. The Chateau Course is not a standard resort course. The longer and tougher of Chateau Elan Golf Club’ s two championship layouts delights highly skilled and less accomplished golfers alike, but it is no patsy. Griffiths’ par-71 creation can play as long as 7,030 yards and as short as 5,092 yards. It spreads out on 170 acres of lush rolling terrain that is ideal for golf. The Chateau Course at Chateau Elan Golf Club features generous tree-lined fairways, pleasing elevation changes, and distinct bailout areas. More than 80 strategically placed bunkers dot the playing field, ramping up the challenge throughout the round even as they add extra definition to each hole. Water also accounts for plenty of trouble, as three lakes and two creeks enter the fray on a total of ten holes. The Chateau Course at Chateau Elan Golf Club features large, undulating, recently renovated TifEagle greens that roll true. The highlight of the round is a stretch of scenic holes on the back nine with significant elevation changes. Chances are you'll see a wide variety of wildlife throughout the day, as well. Troon manages the Chateau Course at Chateau Elan Golf Club and keeps playing conditions excellent throughout the year. Practice facilities include a driving range, chipping area with bunker and multiple putting greens. The clubhouse features an exceptional pro shop, renovated locker rooms, and Sarazen’ s, a popular restaurant overlooking the 18th hole of the Chateau Course. For a rousing round on a challenging and scenic resort layout, make a tee time to play the Chateau Course at Chateau Elan Golf Club..

Lakeland, FL

Cleveland Heights Golf Course

Visit Our New Website! www.clevelandheightsgolf.com HISTORY OF CLEVELAND HEIGHTS Sensing an opportunity to promote their city, the Lakeland Chamber of Commerce invited H. A. Stahl, a Cleveland, OH real estate magnate, to visit the city in late 1923 for the purpose of “studying the possibility of developing a large subdivision in the area.” Stahl purchased 560 acres on the south side of Lake Hollingsworth for $935,000.00. Before the end of the year he had several of his development staff from Cleveland to oversee the construction of the development, which is known as “Cleveland Heights” named after Stahl’s home city. To provide recreational opportunities for the residents of Cleveland Heights, Stahl included plans for a golf course. The golf course and the clubhouse, the latter built on the shore of Lake Hollingsworth, opened in the spring of 1925. By 1927, due to the depression, financial difficulties struck and Stahl lost his investment. The city took over both properties for delinquent taxes by the end of the decade. The City of Lakeland continues to own and operate Cleveland Heights. The city further added nine holes to the original eighteen-hole layout in the early 1980’s. The original clubhouse became home to the Lakeland Yacht and country Club in 1935. TODAY AT CLEVELAND HEIGHTS Home to the annual 4-Ball Golf Tournament and the Major League Scramble, Cleveland Heights has over 120 members. Cleveland Heights is truly a unique golf experience. The clubhouse, renovated in 2001, boasts over 20,000 square feet and offers an extensive breakfast, lunch and evening lounge menus. This 27-hole facility, a Division of the Parks and Recreation Department for the City of Lakeland, offers golfers of all abilities the opportunity to enjoy the sport.

Course photo for Hibiscus Golf ClubPublic tee-time evidence

Naples, FL

Hibiscus Golf Club

A tee time at Hibiscus Golf Club in Naples, Florida is a precious commodity in prime season, so don't wait too long if there's an opening. Naples boasts an abundance of private country clubs, but it suffers from a serious lack of public-access places to play. Not only is Hibiscus Golf Club one of the few courses in the Naples area open to the public, it has also long been a good value daily-fee facility that strives to provide players with a member-for-the-day experience. This very popular, welcoming facility is home to a user-friendly, beautifully landscaped, splendidly conditioned course that offers appropriate challenges for all levels of golfers. David Wallace, a course architect who did the bulk of his work in Florida, laid out the golf course in 1969. In 2007 and 2023, Hibiscus Golf Club benefited from thorough renovations that updated the course conditions and freshened the look of the golf course. Many lovely trees and shrubs have been added to the layout, including live oaks, sabal palms, shady lady coconut palms, and flowering Ipe trees. Hibiscus Golf Club is not an overly difficult test and it's a fun course to walk. Five sets of tee markers stretch the layout from 4,805 yards to 6,317 yards. The round has a nice rhythm as the routing rambles through an old neighborhood with houses set back from wide, forgiving fairways that are loosely lined by hibiscus trees. Water, in the form of lakes and streams, enters the fray on nearly every hole. In addition to a few forced carries, strategically placed bunkers also complicate entry to the greens. Hibiscus Golf Club features medium to large size putting surfaces that have a good bit of character in the form of slopes and undulations. This is not a layout that beats golfers up--many players leave the facility with good feelings about their game. If you are looking to warm up before your round, Hibiscus Golf Club's practice facilities include a driving range, pitching area with practice bunkers, and a large putting green. The updated clubhouse features a golf shop and a restaurant that is a separately run entity. Brooks Bar & Grill serves lunch and dinner, and draws a crowd of golfer and non-golfers alike. Hibiscus Golf Club exudes a timeless aura and continues to be an exceptional Naples tee-time option that entices public golfers to come back again and again.

Course photo for Hill Country Golf ClubPublic tee-time evidence

San Antonio, TX

Hill Country Golf Club

The 27-hole Hyatt Hill Country Golf Club is not only one of the finest golf courses in San Antonio, it is also one of the premier tracks in all of Texas. Although the upscale course is a chief amenity of the Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and Spa, you don’ t have to stay at the resort to schedule a tee time. Legendary golf architect Arthur Hills designed the original 18 of the Hill Country Golf Club in 1983 and then added nine more holes in 2005. World Golf Awards once named the playing field Texas’ s Best Golf Course, and in recent years the club has been a fixture on Golf Advisor’ s list of the Top Courses in Texas. Though Hills’ s layout is conveniently close to the city, it offers a delightful get-away-from-it-all ambiance as it rambles over 200 acres of diverse terrain that ranges from links-style rolling-meadows and lush hillsides to tree-shaded plateaus and tranquil lakes and ponds. Compared to many other Hill Country layouts that feature more dramatic, up-and-down terrain, Hill Country Golf Club occupies much gentler ground. Everyone should be able to handle the challenge of the course, as Hills created a player-friendly, resort-style test. In addition to the four regulation sets of tee markers that stretch the layout from 4,939 yards to 6,931 yards, Hill Country Golf Club also offers two significantly shorter family sets of tees. All three nines of the Hill Country Golf Club blend in well together, but they present distinctly different playing characters. The tough and narrow, heavily wooded Oaks nine is all about placement. The Lakes nine, which features a couple of lakes, is the most scenic of the three nines, while the Creeks nine is the longest and most wide-open test. If you miss the wide fairways on any of these layouts, the vegetation gets thick and you can easily lose a ball. Hill Country Golf Club’ s greens are one of the layout’ s most impressive features. The large, undulating putting surfaces generally roll pretty quick. Practice facilities include a driving range, chipping area and sand bunker, and putting green. The clubhouse features a full-service pro shop and a tavern restaurant that opens for breakfast and then stays open throughout the day. For added convenience, the onsite Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and Spa offers additional dining options and plenty of activities to go along with luxurious accommodations. Whether you o
