Salt Fork State Park Golf Course

Perched high atop the rugged terrain of rural southeast Ohio, the scenic lodge golf course at Salt Fork State Park is a destination worth taking the clubs to. With its rolling fairways and expansive greens, the 18-hole championship course will challenge even the most experienced golfer. Come see for yourself why it earns a 4-star rating in Golf Digest’s Places to Play! The par-71 course spans 250 acres of forested hills, open meadows and misty valleys of Guernsey County. Measuring only 6,056 yards from the white tees, the course plays considerably longer than expected because of the numerous uphill approach shots.

Jersey City, NJ

Skyway Golf Course at Lincoln Park West

One of the betst nine-hole courses in the country, Skyway Golf Course at Lincoln Park West is a challenging, beautiful layout that plays against the backdrop of the namesake bridge in the background. Designed by Roy Case and Jeff Grossman, this links-style course, which was built on top of an old landfill, features great views of the Pulaski Skyway that stretches from Newark to Jersey City. There are also Manhattan skyline views and nine well-crafted holes with rolling fairways, undulating greens, a few water features, and plenty of bunkering. Opened in 2015, the course features excellent hole separation and a nice variety of holes. The course, which was rated no. 8 in the state on Golf Advisor in 2021, has four sets of tees and plays to a par of 36 that stretches to 3,247 yards. It has three par 5s, three par 4s and three par 3 holes. The second hole gives the first really good look at the Skyway with the Hackensack River also in the background and tall fescue framing the hole around the fairway. At 200 yards from the tips, it's a great test and the longest par-3 on the course. The longest hole on the course is the 532-yard, par-5 sixth, a tight hole that might be the most difficult hole at Skyway. The course also ends with a par-3, the 175-yard ninth, which plays alongside the river. In addition to the course, there's also a golf academy.?

Villa Park, IL

Sugar Creek Golf Course

Sugar Creek Golf Course is a nine-hole, par 32 public golf course, owned and operated by the Elmhurst Park District and Village of Villa Park. The course features large, meticulously maintained, undulating Bentgrass greens, comparable to the best in the Chicago area. Also, a three-acre pond comes into play on four of the nine holes, providing a challenge for the more experienced player, yet playable enough for golfers with less experience. Renovations to the course in 2003 included additional sand bunkers and tees, extension of the cart path system, and changing hole #8 from a par 3 to a par 4. Additionally, the course layout was rearranged to allow for improved flow from hole to hole, and better pace of play.

Hilton Head Island, SC

The Golf Club at Indigo Run

Golden Bear Golf Club at Indigo Run may not be Hilton Head Island’ s best known course, but that hasn’ t stopped it from becoming one of the preferred tee times on South Carolina’ s “ Golf Island.” This fun layout, a 1993 Nicklaus Design project headed by lead architect Bruce Borland, is known for its great value. It has formerly been recognized as one America’ s Top 100 Courses Priced Under $100. The picturesque Golden Bear Golf Club at Indigo Run routing weaves through an upscale residential community and a lowcountry forest. Though houses sit beyond the fairways, majestic live oaks, cypress, and pine woodlands make a larger impression on this beautiful and tranquil playing field. Many holes are delightfully secluded in their own private realm. This is a course that rewards accuracy over power. More than other Nicklaus Design projects, Golden Bear Golf Club at Indigo Run features tight fairways and number doglegs. Limbs from live oaks overhang the landing areas and threaten to obscure approach shots. Though wetlands and a chain of lagoons constantly factor into play, forced carries aren’ t a big part of the equation. Just be alert for the stray alligator. One of the most memorable holes at Golden Bear Golf Club at Indigo Run is the dogleg-left 11th, with water to the left of the green. Throughout the round, fairway and greenside bunkers help defend par. Five seats of tee markers plus a combo option give players the chance to take on the course at distances between 4,974 yards and 7,014 yards. The club also sets up a short course option at 2,949 yards, with each individual hole playing between 45 yards and 260 yards. This is an ideal way to make the game fun for groups going around with someone who isn’ t up to the challenge of the regulation course. It can also be ideal for a quick replay round. Practice facilities at Golden Bear Golf Club at Indigo Run include a driving range and practice greens. The clubhouse features a pro shop and a bar and grill. The next time you’ re near Hilton Head Island, consider a tee time at the impressive Golden Bear Golf Club at Indigo Run.
