American Canyon, CA

Eagle Vines Golf Club

Rambling in a vineyard amidst rows and rows of grape vines, Eagle Vines Golf Club is a beautiful place to play in the Napa Valley. The course, located an hour or so from San Francisco, Sacramento, and Santa Rosa, is one of the Bay Area’ s favorite upscale public tee times. The scenic layout consists of a combination of?holes that date back in the 1970s when they were part of neighboring Chardonnay Golf Club and holes filling out the eighteen that Johnny Miller had a hand in designing in 2002. With vines visible from every hole, stands of oaks and cherry trees, and panoramic vistas of Napa’ s golden hills, Miller called the playing field a ‘ beautiful blend of nature and championship golf.’ Eagles Vines Golf Club features five sets of tee markers plus two additional hybrid distance options that stretch the course from 5,587 yards to 7,297 yards. Choose wisely because the layout packs quite a punch. The 1st hole gives you a hint of how tough Eagle Vines Golf Club can be. It’ s a par 5 with a little creek-like channel crossing the fairway and connecting the pond on the left with the pond on the right. Throughout the round, the fairway landing areas are generous, but water is often a factor and the vineyards loom as out of bounds. Eagle Vines Golf Club’ s rolling hills often send balls toward trouble when a shot catches a slope and gathers momentum. Large fairway and greenside bunkers also ensnare many shots, and the greens, while presenting inviting targets, are large and multi-tiered, making a two-putt a minor victory. The hole players look forward to above all others at Eagle Vines Golf Club is the 14th, a downhill par-3 with a large, well-bunkered island green. From the back tee box, which is curiously also surrounded by water, you’ ll enjoy a fantastic view of much of the golf course. Practice facilities include a driving range, a chipping area, and a putting green. There’ s also another putting green by the 9th tee boxes. The clubhouse features a well-stocked pro shop and a bar and grill restaurant that attracts non-golfers as well as golfers. Both the dining room and the outdoor patio look out on the 8th fairway as well as a waterfall, lakes and the surrounding hills. And, unlike other vineyard courses that just grow grapes, Eagle Vines Vineyard produces its own estate wines. If you want some to take home, you can purchase bottles in the clubhouse. Eagles

Corona, CA

Dos Lagos Golf Course

The award-winning Dos Lagos Golf Course is a must-play in the Inland Empire. Designed by the late Matt Dye of the famous Dye family of architects, the course is set alongside the Temescal Valley River in the shadows of the Cleveland National Forest. Located 45 minutes from Los Angeles in South Corona, the 2019 Touchstone Golf Course of the Year plays 6,544 yards from the back tees. The par-70 layout, however, has three other sets, starting at 4,656 yards, making it playable by all levels of golfers. The golf course features elevated tees as well as elevated greens. There are a couple of lakes to navigate ("Dos Lagos" is Spanish for "Two Lakes") strategically placed bunkers, and large, undulating greens. The front nine is a par-34 with just one par 5, the 540-yard fourth, but it is the course's no. 1 handicap hole. There are also three par 3s on the front nine, including the fifth, which plays around 200 yards from the back tee. The par-36 back nine is probably the tougher half of Dos Lagos with a challenging finishing stretch that plays around the second lake on the course. Besides the golf course, Dos Lagos offers a driving range, short-game area and practice putting green. The facility got a beautiful Spanish-style clubhouse in 2015, where you will find a well-stocked golf shop with the latest in apparel, accessories and equipment. It's also where you'll find the magnificent Arroyo Room for special events as well as Dos Lagos' Bar & Grille, open every day.

Yucaipa, CA

Yucaipa Valley Golf Course

Ever since Yucaipa Valley Golf Club opened in 2000, it has been a popular and affordable tee time for golfers of all ability levels in the Inland Empire and beyond. The course, located 70 miles east of Los Angeles, rambles through a residential development in the shadows of the San Bernardino Mountains. The golf course architectural firm of Rainville & Bye laid out Yucaipa Valley Golf Club on the rolling terrain of what was once a highly productive citrus grove. Trees line many holes on the front nine, while the back nine flows amidst lots of housing. The stunning backdrop of the mountains lends beauty and atmosphere to the playing experience. This par-72 test plays as short as 5,273 yards and as long as 6,803 yards. You’ ll find three sets of tee markers out on the course plus two additional hybrid playing distances listed on the scorecard. Yucaipa Valley Golf Club is a user-friendly layout that features a nice mix of straightaway and dogleg holes. The fairways are ample and the greens are quick and sloped, but there’ s not a whole lot of trouble to trip you up. Since Rainville & Bye were rather restrained in their use of bunkers, trees and rough serve as the chief defenses against par at Yucaipa Valley Golf Club. Water enters the fray on four holes, including a couple of par 3s with exciting tee shots over ponds. What makes Yucaipa Valley Golf Club so enjoyable is that none of the challenges are overbearing for the players of diverse skill levels who frequent this course. Practice facilities include a full driving range and two putting greens that include an area where you can hit some chip shots. The clubhouse features a pro shop and a bar & grill with patio seating. It’ s a popular place to hang out or watch a game. Yucaipa Valley Golf Club is a busy, go-to course for many golfers in the Inland Empire, so make your tee time before the choice time slots all fill up.

Course photo for Glen Ivy Golf ClubPublic access under review

Corona, CA

Glen Ivy Golf Club

With mountain views, elevated tees, beautiful water features and terrific greens, Glen Ivy Golf Club is a premium public facility in Southern California's Inland Empire. Designed by Ted Robinson Sr., and Ted Robinson Jr., the par-72 course, which plays 6,673 yards from the back set of tees, weaves its way through groves of citrus trees and the hillsides and canyons of the Cleveland National Forest. There are lots of uneven lies, a few water features to carry and beautiful white sand "Augusta-like" bunkers throughout the course, which opened in 1999. The finishing stretch is particularly strong with a couple of difficult par 3s, a long downhill par-4 16th and spectacular finishing hole. The 434-yard par-4 18th starts with an elevated tee and panoramic view of the fairway, countryside below and mountains. The tee shot must clear an orchard and avoid three fairway bunkers to set up an approach guarded by water short and left of the green. In addition to the golf course, Glen Ivy Golf Club has excellent practice facilities that include a full driving range, short-game area and practice putting green. Lesson programs include video analysis and on-course instruction for every age and every level of player. The clubhouse includes a top-notch golf shop with the latest offerings in apparel, accessories and equipment. And the Canyons Grille is open seven days a week and includes fine dining for dinner. Menu items include steak, chicken and salmon entrees, along with wine pairings and craft beer.
