Course photo for Baylands Golf LinksPublic tee-time evidence

Palo Alto, CA

Baylands Golf Links

Re-designed by renowned architect Forrest Richardson, the City of Palo Alto welcomes you to Baylands Golf Links. Formerly the Palo Alto Municipal Golf Course, Richardson led the reconfiguration of the original William F. Bell design, which opened in 1956. Proudly managed by OB Sports, Baylands Golf Links will open to the public May 26, 2018. The re-designed golf course will feature 55 acres of native Baylands vegetation and wetlands areas, a 40% reduction of managed turf areas, a 35% reduction of potable water use, an additional 10.5 acres added to the Baylands Athletic Center for future recreational use, and 7.4 acres of land converted into in-stream marshland terrace habitat within an expanded San Francisquito Creek for increased flood protection. Construction began in mid-July 2016, with removal of most of the non-native trees throughout the golf course. Tree removal was mitigated through the planting of 300 new native trees on the reconfigured course, along with the planting of two acres of native bay ecosystem habitat in Byxbee Park, as well as the protection and monitoring of 500 naturally-occurring oak saplings in the Pearson Arastradero Preserve. The site was recontoured using soil from the large on-site stockpile, which created an undulating landscape and elevated scenic views of the Baylands and San Francisco Bay that will enhance the golf experience. The golf holes will be separated by large natural areas planted with wetlands plant species that improve habitat for birds and wildlife, and integrate the golf course into its Baylands setting. Founded in the mid 1950’s, the municipal course is operated by the City of Palo Alto as part of its Baylands Nature Preserve District, adjacent to the coastal land bordering Palo Alto along the San Francisco Bay. The San Fransisquito Creek, a historic waterway, runs along the course and is a major flood conveyance stream.

Fullerton, CA

Coyote Hills Golf Course

Coyote Hills Golf Course is a highly appealing tee time option in Orange County, California. Located near Fullerton, the stunning layout was designed by Cal Olson with consulting assistance from the late, legendary PGA Tour star Payne Stewart. A statue of Stewart stands outside the clubhouse. Coyote Hills Golf Course is beautiful and dramatic. Although houses and busy streets surround the golf grounds, the course nonetheless has a secluded feel. Etched into hillsides, the layout spreads out over 250 acres with impressive elevation changes. The playing field occupies oil land, and some fenced-off oil pumps still remain scattered on the site. Mature trees line the fairways of this environmentally-conscious facility that is a certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary. Many of the holes at Coyote Hills Golf Course churn through their own isolated playing corridors, so you may not see other groups during your round. The par-70 course features five sets of tees that provide distance options between 4,437 yards and 6,510 yards. Several of the par 4s play quite long, as the back two sets of tee markers require significant forced carries over arroyos and ravines. A creek also winds its way near the front of some of the greens. With its narrow fairways that run out to natural areas, thick vegetation and trees, Coyote Hills Golf Course presents target-style challenges that shotmakers relish. The front nine is flat out rugged, up-and-down terrain. While some holes play severely downhill, others climb relentlessly uphill. The back nine is much flatter with more water in play. One of the most memorable holes is the long par-3 8th, which presents a gorgeous panoramic vista as it proceeds downhill from tee boxes that command high ground. A waterfall, a bubbling stream, and ponds separate the 9th hole from the18th hole with the clubhouse as a backdrop. Don’ t let the beauty of the course and the surrounding countryside distract you. At Coyote Hills Golf Course, you’ ll be in for a long day if you can’ t keep your ball in the fairway. For those players who wish to warm up before the round, the course has a full practice facility that includes a driving range, two putting greens and a small chipping area. The elegant Coyote Hills Golf Course clubhouse is a favorite spot for weddings, corporate outings, and special events. You’ ll find a well-stocked pro shop and a restaurant on

Carlsbad, CA

La Costa Resort & Spa

The 36-hole Omni La Costa Resort Golf Course in Carlsbad is one of Southern California s most storied places to play. Thanks to major renovations that took place between 2011-and 2013, both the North Course and the South Course are joys to play at the amenity-rich Omni La Costa Resort & Spa. Public players are invited to make tee times on one of the courses each day, while the other one is reserved for La Costa members. When you have a tee time at either of the Omni La Costa Resort Golf Course's two eighteens, you well truly be walking in the footsteps of the game s most illustrious players. From 1969 to 1998, a composite routing (#1-3 and #13-18 of the North Course and #10-18 of the South Course) served as the venue for the PGA Tours Tournament of North. Legendary names like Player, Nicklaus, Trevino, Watson, Miller, Mickelson, and Woods have all won at La Costa. The North eighteen at the Omni La Costa Resort Golf Course sports a linksy-feel with its exposed terrain, large landing areas and subtle elevation changes. You well find a nice mix of long, short, straightaway, and dogleg tests. Natural areas and bordering swathes of wood chips and pine straw frame the fairways on a layout that golfers of all abilities can relish. Several lakes add challenge, but aside from the par 3s, forced carries are not a factor. If you miss the fairways, you well likely find your ball and have a manageable recovery shot. Meanwhile, the adjacent South Course offers a contrasting aesthetic look and playing experience. This more heavily treed, primarily flat? playing field lends itself to a traditional, parkland-style game. The South is the narrower of the two eighteens at the Omni La Costa Resort Golf Course. As you navigate your way on dogleg holes, accuracy off the tee and strategic positioning of your ball are crucial to avoid being blocked out by trees. A few creeks twist through the routing and rough can also be pesky here.? You'll need all of your green reading skills on the tricky South putting surfaces. The breaks are subtle and influenced by grain. Practice facilities include a driving range, chipping areas and putting greens. The clubhouse at the Omni La Costa Resort Golf Course is an impressive, sprawling building with a clubby aura. Many celebrities have hung out here over the years. The restaurant above the golf shop overlooks the courses and is known for its flash
