Rockaway Hunting Club’s 18-hole course in Lawrence plays to par 70 over 6,452 yards. The seaside layout includes bunkers, waste areas, fescue and firm fairways, with many holes bordering Reynolds Channel and exposed to ocean winds. Golf began here with a nine-hole layout in the early 1890s, followed by an 18-hole design by Tom Benedelow in 1898. Later work involved Devereaux Emmet, A. W. Tillinghast, Perry Maxwell, and a renovation by Gil Hanse and Jim Wagner. The club also has 25 tennis courts.
