Patriot Hills Golf Club

Located just an hour or so from New York City, semi-private Patriot Hills Golf Club is an outstanding golf facility open to the public. The golf course is tucked away in the Ramapo Mountains on a perch overlooking the Hudson River. The par 71 layout, which is almost 6,500 yards from the back tees, features elevated tees, terrific views, a wide variety of interesting holes, and exceptional conditioning. The course is rated nearly five stars on Golf Pass. Opened in 2003 and designed by Rick Jacobson, Patriot Hills offers four sets of tees, beginning at 5,101 yards. There are short and long par 4s, and a nice variety of par 5 and par 3 holes. The longest hole on the course is the 568-yard par-5 14th. It's also one of the most beautiful with an elevated tee shot that features a panoramic view of a tight fairway and hills and mountains in the distance. The no. 1 handicap hole is the long par-4 15th. The tee shot on this dogleg right is slightly uphill with fairway bunkers and an approach into a well-guarded green. Besides the golf course, Patriot Hills has a driving range, short-game area, and practice putting green. Golf lessons are also available. Inside the clubhouse, you'll find a well-stocked golf shop and dining facilities. The Patriot Lounge is a sports bar with simulators, big screens, draft beer and plenty of food. The Revolutionary Grille is a full-service indoor dining experience overlooking the 18th green.

Bradenton, FL

Rosedale Golf & Tennis Club

Winding its way among sparkling lakes and woodlands, the 18-hole championship golf course offers both challenge and breathtaking scenery to the lucky few who come to call Rosedale home. Noted golf course architect Ted McAnlis, a former Fazio team member, has succeeded brilliantly in his quest to keep the surroundings intact, imaginatively weaving fairways and greens through existing Florida forest. While water and sand come frequently into play, some say the setting itself is the greatest pleasure of all. There's an 8-acre driving range for the required time on the practice tee, and a chipping and putting green for fine tuning strokes.

Livermore, CA

The Course at Wente Vineyards

Grapes and golf make for a great combination at The Course at Wente Vineyards, a beautiful but very challenging championship golf course in the Livermore Valley. Ever since opening in the late 1990s, this upscale daily fee facility located 35 miles east of San Francisco has been a popular Bay Area tee time thanks to its private club feel, reputation for superb course maintenance, and highly intriguing layout. The Course at Wente Vineyards has appeared frequently on Golf Advisor’ s list of the Top Courses in California. It is notable for being Greg Norman’ s first design in the United States. Norman simply couldn’ t resist the property. Surrounded by golden hills and well removed from any other development, The Course at Wente Vineyards is an amenity of an 1883-vintage winery that holds the distinction of being the oldest continuously operating family-owned winery in the country. The playing field rambles amidst three distinct topographies— native woodlands, mature vineyards and hills of natural grasslands— with more than 200 feet of elevation change between its highest and lowest spots. The rolling hills come alive with elevated tee shots and panoramic views revealing the surrounding countryside. The Course at Wente Vineyards not only mesmerizes players with its gorgeous scenery, it also offers a stern challenge that tests even the most skilled golfers. During two of the three years that the course hosted a Nationwide Tour (now Korn Ferry Tour) event, it produced the Tour’ s highest scoring average of the season. Big bunkers add definition to the fairways and serve as targets. Although the tee shot landing areas are generous, accuracy is needed on approach shots into the layout’ s sloping greens. Due to the?elevation changes of the golf grounds, players face some blind shots. Norman has said the short par-4 2nd, with its fairway flanked on both sides by sycamore and oak trees, is his favorite hole. The back nine begins high on a ridge that yields breathtaking vistas. One of the coolest moments at The Course at Wente Vineyards comes when you make the drive up the dramatic, switchback-filled cart path that leads from the 9th green to the 10th tee. The round rushes to a rousing finish with a stretch of five holes set in a valley amidst the vineyards. Creeks, wetlands and a lake add to the beauty and strategy of these final holes. Course photo for Woodstone Meadows at Massanutten ResortPublic tee-time evidence

Massanutten, VA

Woodstone Meadows at Massanutten Resort

Massanutten Resort, nestled in the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains near McGaheysville, Virginia, is renowned for its snow sports, but it also offers two excellent 18-hole golf courses. The Woodstone Meadows Course, located in a beautiful valley at the base of the mountain, is the resort’s most popular course and a great choice for golfers of all ages and skill levels. This sporty, executive-style course is short and beginner-friendly, with sections winding through the resort's condominium accommodations. It provides a fun, relaxed experience, ideal for a warm-up before tackling the more challenging, PGA-rated Mountain Green Course higher up on the mountain. Woodstone Meadows features elevated tee boxes that offer sweeping views of the course and the surrounding landscape. The course's wide fairways gently roll over moderate elevation changes, with most lies remaining level despite the uphill and downhill holes. The par-65 layout consists of nine par 3s, seven par 4s, and two par 5s, and measures between 3,605 and 5,065 yards from four sets of tees. Though it’s labeled as an executive course, the individual holes still offer a challenge. Notably, only one par 4 plays under 350 yards from the longest tees, and both par 5s stretch over 500 yards. One unique feature of the Woodstone Meadows layout is its back-to-back-to-back par 3 holes on each nine, adding a quirky element to the round. Water hazards, including creeks and ponds, also add a layer of excitement. The greens are user-friendly, with various shapes and sizes but minimal undulations, offering a consistent putting experience. The course also offers great practice facilities, including a driving range, putting green, and sand bunker, while the clubhouse features a pro shop and snack area. The Woodstone Meadows Course is open year-round, weather permitting, and on many days, guests can enjoy skiing at the top of the mountain and then play a round of golf afterward. Whether you're seeking a fun round on a relaxing executive course or a challenge with a scenic backdrop, the Woodstone Meadows Course at Massanutten Resort is a must-play destination.
