West Lafayette, OH

River Greens Golf Course

River Greens Golf Course has matured into one of the most enjoyable and finest tests of golf in Ohio. The tree lined, soft, lush fairways are constantly maintained and manicured. This contributed to River Greens receiving a 4 ½ star rating, and was named as “… one of North America’s top 201 best public-access courses” by Golf Digest in the 2000-2001 Places to Play publication. The first nine was opened to the public in 1966 and the second nine a year later. The “original 18” The River Course and The Greens Course play to a par of 72, from the blue tees it measures 6600 yards and has a slope of 120. Jack Kidwell was the architect. In 1994 the third nine, the Pines Course was completed, and is 3300 yards from the tips. This course features three par 3’s and three par 5’s, and all three nines have 4 sets of tees. River Greens Golf Course plays host to The Ohio Athletic Conference Spring Championship and OHSAA Sectional and District Tournaments.

River Vale, NJ

River Vale Country Club

River Vale Country Club, located about 45 minutes from both Manhattan and Hoboken, New Jersey, is a hidden gem from the golden age of golf course architecture. In recent years it has been a fixture on Golf Advisor’ s list of the Top Courses in New Jersey. River Vale Country Club, which is owned by the town of River Vale, is known for its beautiful setting, fun and challenging variety of holes, intriguing design, and outstanding practice facilities. This 1931-vintage parkland course has retained much of its original character. Orrin E. Smith, who worked under Willie Park, Jr., and Donald Ross before starting his own golf course architecture practice, built the course on the edge of Lake Tappan which borders New York State. With four sets of tees, River Vale Country Club can play between 5,378 yards and 6,504 yards. You’ ll find lots of variety to the holes and plenty of elevation changes. Though the playing field gets narrow in spots, most of the tree-lined fairways are fairly roomy. The mature hardwood trees and absence of housing make for a very attractive and peaceful layout. Many of the teeing areas and greens are situated on built-up on little plateaus that were a characteristic of Smith’ s designs. Beware of the false fronts at the greens. The putting surfaces at River Vale Country Club are tricky, as balls tend to drift off the edges into collecting areas. Also, downhill putts can be very quick. A corner of the playing field approaches Lake Tappan. You get a good view of the lake from the 5th tee, play alongside it on the 6th hole, and see it again up on the ridge on the 7th and 16th holes. Among the more memorable holes is the par-4 13th, a severe dogleg-left that tempts long hitters to go for green off the tee. Note that wind is often a factor at River Vale Country Club. The facility boasts outstanding practice amenities. In addition to the putting and chipping and bunker areas, there’ s also a driving range with TopTracer technology. The clubhouse features the pro shop, which carries a variety of merchandise, men's and women's locker rooms, and the Cherry Brook Bar and Restaurant, which offers a pub-style menu. The secret seems to be getting out that River Vale Country Club is fun and interesting to play, so don’ t delay in making a tee time.

Winder, GA

The Chimneys Golf Course

The Chimneys Golf Course One of the most unique features of this picturesque course layout is the intricate hand-laid rockwork that surrounds many of the tees, greens and fairways using the naturally occurring rock from the site. The par-72 course yardage is nearly 6500 yards from the tips, and offers five sets of tees to challenge golfers of all levels. In addition to its outstanding beauty, The Chimneys is proud to join a growing league of golf courses that are taking advantage the environmentally conscious practice of using recycled water to keep the course beautiful. This method of irrigation provides the course with a constant, dependable supply of water during these times of increased watering restrictions and drought. Unlike many courses in North Georgia Area, The Chimneys remains green even in the hottest months. The Chimneys clubhouse features a fully stocked pro shop and snack and beverage bar, and the friendly staff will be happy to assist you with any of your outing or tournament needs.

Course photo for The Golf Club of DallasPublic tee-time evidence

Dallas, TX

The Golf Club of Dallas

The Golf Club of Dallas is considered to be one of Dallas’ best kept and oldest secrets. Founded in 1953 and designed by Perry Maxwell, GCD was home to Dallas’ first professional golf tournament, the Dallas Open, from 1958-1967. Today this tournament is known as the HP Byron Nelson Classic. In 1994 & 1995 GCD hosted the Champions Tour Reunion Championship. With the club’s rich history of tournament play, both professional and amateur, the course proves to be something special. Well-manicured 419 bermuda grass fairways and tiff eagle bermuda greens tucked into rolling hills. Full practice facilities, range, bunker, putting and chipping, areas are available to help you hone your game with assistance from the PGA Professional Staff. The championship golf course is a challenging par 70 at 6719 yards featuring 52 bunkers, one lake, and a winding creek which comes into play on seven holes as it intertwines through the rolling terrain. Our signature hole, pictured below, is the par-4 15th. Playing at 407 yards from the back tees, the 15th features an undulating fairway framed by stately oak and pecan trees, and a picturesque waterfall and creek fronting the green.

Course photo for Walnut Creek Country ClubAccess not yet verified

Mansfield, TX

Walnut Creek Country Club

Legendary designer Don January created the Club’s original course, the Pecan Course, and Mark Brooks designed the Oak Course. With this tremendous collection of 36 championship holes of golf, enthusiasts will find the layouts both challenging and remarkably fair for any player’s skill level. The Pecan Course has a more classic layout that requires shotmaking ability from the players. The back nine of the Pecan will challenge every golfer’s ability as it plays into the predominant southerly wind. The Oak Course is newer and features wider, more forgiving fairways. It is viewed as the more "friendly" golf course, but may grow teeth as the game progresses because 12 of the 18 holes contain a water hazard to challenge the player. Both courses offer unique challenges to the game using the natural beauty of the area. Practice facilities offer plenty of opportunities to fine-tune your game with a driving range, putting green and a chipping and bunker green.

Ballater, UNITED KINGDOM

ballater golf club

Ballater Golf Course is predominantly a heathland course, with several holes running alongside the River Dee. However, as you progress through your round there are some definite parkland features to contend with. Unusually, the opening 6-hole stretch is the hardest on the course, so it is essential that you keep your card intact for the back 9 where a good score can be made.

A provider indicates that the course may allow public play, but Golf One has not yet verified the access claim strongly enough for search indexing.
