birkdale golf club

Birkdale Golf Club is a first class golf course for all skill level golfers. Dan Maples designed the course to challenge the best golfers while remaining fair and enjoyable to everyone. Just 20 minutes from downtown Richmond, it's a short and worthwhile drive. Most recognizable on this course are the par 3 No. 4 and the par 5 No.9 and 18. The 4th is short iron over a lake jutting out to surround the front and left of the green. The 9th is a 500 yard jewel that requires patience and the sense to lay up in front of that same lake with the second shot. The 18th is a true par 5 that has become one of the best finishing holes in the Richmond area. Golf amenities include a two-tiered oversize practice tee and putting green. Other amenities include a 7,000 square foot clubhouse , four clay tennis courts, and a swimming pool with bathhouse.

Corona, CA

Eagle Glen Golf Club

Eagle Glen Golf Club is a spectacular public golf course just south of Corona, some 60 miles southeast of Los Angeles. When you make a tee time, you’ ll test your game on a playing field that winds through and around canyons and hills, up on ridges and down in a basin. One exciting hole leads to another. Though homes dot a few spots around the perimeter of this Gary Baird design from 1999, you’ re much more likely to remember the sublime natural surroundings. The setting is big, bold and beautiful. The same can be said for the course design and the challenge it presents. Eagle Glen Golf Club is a tough challenge, but it is manageable for anyone who plays it from an appropriate distance. With four different sets of tee markers, plus a combo scorecard option, Eagle Glen Golf Club can be as short as 4,897 yards and as long as 6,898 yards. You’ ll encounter frequent elevation changes, numerous ravines, and tilted terrain that yields lots of run out of the golf ball. A target game prevails here, as inhospitable natural areas loom beyond the groomed turf. Because of the frequent elevation changes, you are sure to face a few blind shots during the round. The 4th hole is one of many memorable tests. It’ s a gorgeous downhill par 3 with a well-bunkered green tucked in a ravine. If you can survive the first several holes at Eagle Glen Golf Club, you’ ll be able to handle the remainder of the round without blowing up your scorecard. Variety is a hallmark of the game. The layout features uphill and downhill holes, fairways that angle off into trouble, and quick greens with pronounced tilt and undulations. While the front nine occupies high ground and yields expansive vistas of the city of Corona and beyond, the more wide open back nine rambles a bit more traditionally on lower-lying holes in the valley basin. The par-4 11th begins on a clifftop and plays way down over a stone wall to the fairway below. The par-5 15th, possibly the most scenic spot on the course from the back tee box, features a cool Biarritz green with a trough in the middle. Local knowledge goes a long way at Eagle Glen Golf Club, as gauging distances is a tough task on this course. The mountain slopes of Cleveland National Forest frame many holeWhen facing a blind shot, you’ ll need to pick out a spot on a mountain or some other feature to establish your line. Green Valley, AZ

Haven Golf Club

Tortuga Par 3 Course at Haven is a very short 9-hole layout that accompanies the 18-hole Arthur Jack Snyder-designed Haven Golf Course in Green Valley, Arizona. Located just off of I-19, about 25 miles south of Tucson, Tortuga Par 3 Course at Haven sits on the other side of the putting green from the main course. It’ s a fun, little, walking test that’ s ideal for beginners and players of all ages, and for anyone looking to get in some short game practice. As is the case on the 18-hole layout, the surrounding Santa Rita Mountains provide a scenic backdrop. When you have a tee time here, you are entitled to go around the course twice. The holes on the Tortuga Par 3 Course at Haven measure between 50 and 90 yards. Trees loosely line the fairways. While the layout doesn’ t have any water hazards, you will encounter a few sand bunkers. The greens of the Tortuga Par 3 Course at Haven are small with some fun undulations, so it can be challenging to hit and hold them. They generally are maintained to a similar standard as the Haven Golf Course. The Tortuga Par 3 Course at Haven generally entertains about 20 or so players a day, so if your timing is good rounds can be quite quick. Practice facilities include a driving range, chipping area and putting green. The modest clubhouse features a pro shop and snack bar. For a quick and relaxing pitch-and-putt game in Green Valley, make a tee time to play Tortuga Par 3 Course at Haven.
