Mount Airy, MD

Rattlewood Golf Course

Rattlewood Golf Course in Mt. Airy Maryland was acquired in 1995 from a private developer. Featuring an 18,000 square-foot clubhouse that was converted from residential use, Rattlewood is eight miles north of Damascus on Penn Shop Road just off I-70 and MD Route 27. Rattlewood is also a short drive from Monrovia, Ijamsville, Linganore & New Market in Frederick Maryland, Glenwood & Woodbine in Howard County & Sykesville, Eldersburg, Taylorsville & Westminster in Carroll County MD. The par 72 course is average in length, and challenging. There is an interesting variety of holes offering tempting risk/reward opportunities. Rattlewood’s 9th hole, a lengthy Par 5, with strategically placed bunkers both in the fairway and flanking the green, paves the way for a dog leg finish into our 18,000 square foot clubhouse for your turn stop. Among golfers, Rattlewood has a reputation for being open during wet conditions because it drains very effectively.]

Austin, TX

Roy Kizer Golf Course

Austin's premier municipal course was converted from an abandoned wastewater plant. This 6,749 yard, par 71 course embodies the design philosophy "to give pleasure to the greatest number of players without respect to their capabilities." The links-style layout, spread over almost 200 acres is bordered by cedars, elms and oaks. 35 acres of lakes and 22 acres of wetlands have been created for resident and migratory waterfowl. Despite the acreage devoted to lakes, Kizer is suitable for players of all levels. Ample fairways and the choice of 5 sets of tees provides each golfer the opportunity to play a course that fits their skill level and a variety of ways to negotiate the challenges.
