Lincoln, CA

Lincoln Hills GC - Orchard Course

WELCOME TO LINCOLN HILLS GOLF CLUB! Lincoln Hills Golf Club is home to two different courses; The Hills Course and The Orchard Course. The Hills Course challenges golfers with an assortment of golf holes ranging from risk/reward par 5s to bombs-away par 4s, but it’s arguably the par 3s that reflect the character of this 6,853-yard track. For example, the par-3 12th plays downhill with wetlands to the right and behind the green. The hole is as picturesque as it is challenging, and like many of the holes on The Hills course, close scrutiny to the day’s pin sheet as well as sound course management are required to score well. The generous corridors and expansive fairways of the Orchard Course impart a feeling of openness as the layout unfolds over the rolling hills and natural wetlands common to this neck of Placer County, California. Manicured fairways are framed by daunting hazards and pockets of pine, oak and redwood trees that add to the golf course’s aesthetic appeal as well as to the risk/reward challenges. Although The Orchard Course is best defined by its long and challenging par 4’s, it’s the short par-4 sixth hole that attracts the most birdies. A variety of waterfowl such as Egrets, Herons and Canadian Geese have chosen to roost in a large oak situated behind the green.

Course photo for Myakka Pines Golf ClubPublic tee-time evidence

Englewood, FL

Myakka Pines Golf Club

Myakka Pines Golf Club, located some 15 miles west of Port Charlotte in Sarasota County, is a fun course that regularly draws raves from players who tend to return again and again. On busy days in season, this popular 27-hole facility will see 400 players come through for their rounds. The primary attraction is a playing field that is a rarity in Florida golf— at Myakka Pines Golf Club there’ s no housing or street noise anywhere around. Golfers enjoy a tranquil realm in a picturesque inland setting about five miles from the Gulf of Mexico. Birdlife and wildlife abound. The club’ s most famous "inhabitant" is Goliath, a monstrous 16-foot alligator that has long been a fixture here. Each day the club designates which two of the three nines are used for tee times. The daily routing changes regularly so all three nines— Red, White, and Blue— get the same amount of play. No matter which nines you play, you’ ll find generous, flat fairways at Myakka Pines Golf Club. Some of the holes are flanked by trees, others by water. Water presents the primary threat to par at the very playable Myakka Pines Golf Club. Most of the hazards are on the sides of the fairways and greens. The White nine has the most water in play, while the Blue has the least. Provided you utilize the proper set of tees, all levels of players should find a manageable distance that isn’ t intimidating. The well-conditioned greens are also rather flat and undramatic and not too fast, so you should be able to put a confident stroke on your putts. Because of the heavy volume of play here, only members are permitted to walk until late in the afternoon. Practice facilities at Myakka Pines Golf Club include a driving range and putting green. The club’ s snack bar/restaurant features comfort food for lunch. Service generally stops in the mid-afternoon. In the southern part of Sarasota County near Englewood, Myakka Pines Golf Club stands out as a fun and peaceful layout and very friendly facility. Tee times are coveted commodities here, so don't delay.

Course photo for Northampton Valley Country ClubPublic tee-time evidence

Richboro, PA

Northampton Valley Country Club

Ranked as one of the best public courses in the Philadelphia area, Northampton Valley Country Club offers a layout that's both beautiful and playable for all levels of golfers. The course, which was designed by Ed Ault and opened in 1963, has four sets of tees, playing around 6,400 yards from the tips. Owned by Northampton Township, this classically designed golf course features tree-lined fairways with gently sloped greens. Water comes into play on a few holes, and some strategically-placed bunkers guard the greens. While the par-70 course is player friendly, it does present a few risk-reward opportunities that better players will appreciate. The first par 5 is a good example. No. 7 is just 530 yards from the back tees, and only 500 yards from the next set. There's not much trouble, so many long hitters will go for this green in two. The par-4 ninth is another. It's just 305 yards from the back tee, but a lake front right of the green looms large, so long hitters who hit the driver will have to keep it left. Northampton Valley Country Club also offers excellent practice facilities that include a driving range, practice bunker and 10,000-square-foot practice green. Lessons are also available. The clubhouse includes a well-stocked golf shop and the "Tavern on Ten" restaurant, which has a covered outdoor patio. Serving breakfast on Friday and Saturday and lunch and dinner every day, the Tavern on Ten offers a wide variety of fresh appetizers, sandwiches and mains as well as a variety of beers on tap.

Course photo for Pennsauken Country ClubPublic tee-time evidence

Pennsauken, NJ

Pennsauken Country Club

Owned and operated by the Township of Pennsauken since 1982, Pennsauken Country Club is a favorite in the south Jersey area. Opened in 1932, the par-70 golf course isn't particularly long at 6,250 yards from the tips, but the greens are plenty challenging as are a handful of the holes. Known for its outstanding conditioning and friendly service, the course also has four sets of tees to accommodate all levels of players. The design starts out with some short par 4s and gets progressively more difficult. The seventh is a par-3 that plays nearly 250 yards from the back tees. With an elevated green, it's one of the most difficult holes in South Jersey. But there are plenty of opportunities to score. Good drivers of the golf ball will have wedges into many of the par 4s, and the longest par 5 is just over 500 yards. The course finishes on a strong note with the 420-yard, par-4 18th. This dogleg right hole features a pond one the right off the tee. Oonly the longest hitters will be able to carry it. The approach is to a slightly elevated tee with bunkers surrounding the back, left and right sides. Pennsauken Country Club does not have a driving range, but there is a pitching and chipping area as well as a practice putting green. Inside the clubhouse is a well-stocked golf shop as well as a restaurant open every day for breakfast, lunch, and special events.
