Forest Park Golf Course

Forest Park golfers can enjoy one of the finest public courses in the country. Although the Forest Park golf course was built in 1913 on the site of the 1904 World's Fair, today the Norman K. Probstein Community Golf Course and Youth Learning Center in Forest Park is all new. Stan Gentry, chief architect for Hale Irwin Golf Services Inc., reconfigured the 27-holes to three nine hole courses, which can be combined to be played as 18 holes, lending more variety and flexibility for golfers. All three courses have lush zoysia fairways and are par 35. They are named for trees found in St. Louis: Hawthorne, Dogwood and Redbud.

Jekyll Island - Pine Lakes

Jekyll Island has been a golf destination since 1898, today, Jekyll Island boasts 63 holes of golf on three 18-hole courses and one 9-hole course, earning Jekyll Island the bragging rights as Georgia's largest public golf resort. The newest (originally designed and built in 1968 and completely renovated in 2002) and longest (at 6,760 yards) course, Pine Lakes is a veritable masterpiece that meanders through ocean forests and undisturbed hammocks populated by migratory birds. The original Dick Wilson/Joe Lee design was completely renovated in 2002 by course architect Clyde Johnston, designer of Southerness Golf Club, Golf Course in Atlanta. Johnston took what was a near perfection and added his vision and flavor – including new lakes and bunkers, redesigned greens and drainage improvements – making it the premier course on Jekyll Island. During course design Clyde Johnston incorporated "Family Friendly" tee boxes, making this the only course in America that allows players of all ages to compete evenly. Pine Lakes and Jekyll Island are the official hosts for the annual US Kids Golf Jekyll Island Cup.
