About the course
Understand the course before making an access claim.
Wide-open, tree-lined fairways allow beginner golfers room for error from the trees. Only severe slices and hooks find the heavy wooded areas. Balls that land in one of the heavy wooded areas result in unplayable lies. The flat terrain allows golfers to hit low trajectory shots without having to worry about balls rolling into a rough. Beginners do not contend with uneven lies and blind shots that are common on hilly courses. Golfers who miss one of The Bluegrass fairways have easy recovery shots back into play. Since shots roll into adjacent fairways, golfers should be cognizant of unexpected visitors looking for their golf balls. Course architects sprinkled a few sand bunkers around the course. The hard sand surfaces provide solid footing for golfers to address sand lies. Water hazards influence shot strategies on three holes. The small ponds sit to the sides of fairways. Approach shots to the large Bent grass greens do not need loft or backspin to hold on the soft putting surfaces. The greens play exceptionally slow and most putts read in straight lines. 150-yard markers help golfers gauge approach shot distances.
