Bluffton, SC

Crescent Pointe Golf Club

Crescent Pointe Golf Club, an 18-hole championship course in Bluffton, South Carolina, is located right off of US 278, just three miles from the bridge to Hilton Head Island. It’ s a favorite tee time for locals and in-the-know traveling golfers who add it to their Hilton Head itineraries because it provides excellent bang for their buck. Crescent Pointe Golf Club is the only Arnold Palmer-designed public-access course in the area. The Palmer treatment here is a highly playable, strategic design with generous fairways, large, elevated greens, plenty of sandy waste areas and brilliant white sand bunkers, and lots of variety to the holes. Even better, portions of the layout ramble by the Colleton River with expansive marsh views. This course, which debuted in 2000, is a scenic treat. Two other special features of Crescent Pointe make for a unique round: rolling terrain with noticeable elevation changes, and beach bunkers that flow directly into lakes. The former adds an intriguing element that is often missing from low country layouts. The beach bunkers give Crescent Pointe Golf Club even more of a cool look. With six sets of tee markers plus a hybrid option, players of all skill levels can choose a manageable distance between 4,126 yards and 6,773 yards. The picturesque routing weaves around wetlands and lakes and amidst strands of towering pines, magnolias, and ancient oak trees. The holes at Crescent Pointe Golf Club move in a multitude of directions and no two look alike. Much of the bite of the course comes from forced carry shots over water— that’ s an exciting feature of the four par 3s and three par 5s. Palmer’ s greens make for inviting targets. Though they are large, the undulations, slopes and breaks tend to be subtle. You can stroke your putts with confidence. Crescent Pointe Golf Club’ s practice facilities include a driving range, a practice area, and a putting green. The clubhouse features an extensively stocked pro shop, locker rooms and a restaurant. The next time you are looking to play in the Bluffton/Hilton Head Island area, consider a tee time at Crescent Pointe Golf Club.

Longs, SC

Aberdeen Country Club

Aberdeen Country Club is the only Carolinas recipient of Golf Digest’s prestigious medallions for both Value and Service in 1998, and awarded 4 STARS in Golf Digest’s “Places to Play 2006”. Open in 1989, Aberdeen Country Club is located along a protected riverfront preserve, teeming with wildlife. Aberdeen transports players into the game of golf in the real Scottish tradition with its 27-hole Tom Jackson design that inserts a Scottish golf feel to the northern end of South Carolina’s Grand Strand. All three of Aberdeen’s nines are packed with wildlife, a product of the course’s proximity to the Waccamaw riverfront preserve. The property also includes a minimal number of nearby home sites, allowing players the opportunity to concentrate on the game and the stunning environment. That focus could be key, as rolling fairways dip and dive around water on 24 of the 27 holes. Recently renovated sand traps then protect many of the Tif-Eagle Bermuda greens. This Myrtle Beach golf course’s three nines (Highlands, Meadows, Woodlands) will take you into the game of golf in the true Scottish tradition. All three nines are reminiscent of those early days of golf. Tucked among towering hardwoods and the Waccamaw River, this golf course features extensive mounding, wide landing areas, and lush bermuda greens. With 27 holes there is always a chance for an “extra” 9 that will extend your enjoyment.
