Oak Shadows Golf Club

Located in New Philadelphia, Oak Shadows Golf Club is the area’s premier 18-hole Championship public golf course. Challenging and playable for all skill levels, this par-72 course features four tee areas ranging in length from 5,208 yards to 7,015 yards. Sixty-five sand and grass bunkers and Bent grass fairways, tees and greens were incorporated into the course design to challenge both the professional and occasional player. Oak Shadows Golf Club also boasts a full scale driving range with putting and chipping greens. Spanning 197 acres of countryside and surrounded by lush rolling hills, stately trees and acres of protected wetlands, Oak Shadows affords the perfect atmosphere for a challenging, peaceful and scenic round of golf.

Cleveland Metro-Little Met Golf Course - 9 Holes

The first Cleveland Metroparks golf course, Little Met (originally named Course #2), was built as a temporary golf course in 1924. Its purpose was to stimulate interest as well as to satisfy the desire of anxious golfers prior to the opening of Big Met Golf Course. Seven years later, the demand for golf continued and the Cleveland Metropolitan Park Board decided to continue operating the course. Originally, the fairways of Little Met were merely old meadows. Putting greens were constructed by smoothing the land and sowing grass seed. Today, it's still evident that some of the tees and greens are level with the surrounding terrain. In 1982, six tees were raised and a watering system was installed. The architect for Little Met was most likely Stanley Thompson, who designed a total of 27 holes in Rocky River Reservation. Little Met was also the first golf course (and probably one of the last) in the region to offer an alternative to golf in the winter - archery golf. This form of archery became very popular, and ironically this led to its demise because people were being injured by the flying "arrows."

Twin Run Golf Course

Twin Run Golf Course is the younger of the two municipal courses in City of Hamilton, Ohio. Located five miles from the historic Potter’ s Park Golf Course, Twin Run was laid out on moderately rolling terrain in the early 1960s by the distinguished course architect William Diddel. Over the years Twin Run Golf Course has become a favorite public golf experience in southwest Ohio because of its fun and very playable layout, its fine playing conditions highlighted by recently renovated bunkers, its smooth greens that roll true, and its affordable tee times. The par-72 layout features three sets of tee markers. While the forward tees measure 4,925 yards, the middle markers extend to 6,068 yards and the back tee box max out at 6,515 yards. Depending upon which set of tees you utilize, Twin Run Golf Course can be a formidable challenge because of its length. From the back markers, a handful of par 4s exceed 400 yards and three of the four par 5s are well over 500 yards. Generous fairways, sparse trees on many holes, and minimal trouble off the tee make Twin Run Golf Course an excellent driving course. It’ s a forgiving layout for players who tend to spray shots, especially since many trees have been removed in recent years to open up the playing field even further. Most players find the back nine somewhat more intriguing and challenging than the front, as it loops around a wooded area and occupies hillier ground. Water enters the fray on just two holes at Twin Run Golf Course— the two par 3s on the front nine. While players can stroke putts confidently on greens that are predominantly flat, a few of the putting surfaces slope from back to front. Practice facilities include a full driving range, a chipping and pitching area where you can hit up to 50-yard shots, a sand bunker, and a putting green. The clubhouse has a pro shop and a full-service bar and food concession area. Twin Run Golf Course normally closes for the season around December 1, though with the addition of a golf simulator in the clubhouse, the city may keep the course open even longer. Hamilton, Ohio has made lists of the top cities in the U.S. for golf, so if you are anywhere nearby, a tee time at its well-run Twin Run Golf Course is a must.

Gleneagles Golf Club

Gleneagles Golf Course consists of a challenging 18-hole course, measuring over 6,500 yards from the blue tees. The Course requires accurate shot-making, due to the water hazards on eleven of the holes. There are also over 20 bunkers on the golf course. A professional golf staff and fully stocked pro shop with clothing and equipment also compliment the facility well. For these reasons, Gleneagles was ranked number 14 on a recent listing of the area's most challenging golf courses in the "Small Business News" as well as #8 on the top 10 places to go for business golf by Inside Business. Owned and operated by the City of Twinsburg, the golf course continues to garner favorable reviews from golfers across Northeast Ohio.

Sleepy Hollow Golf Course

With its spectacular views of the Cuyahoga River Valley and classic layout, Sleepy Hollow Golf Course ranks as one of the great golf challenges in Cleveland. The punitive nature of the course can clearly be seen in the deep ravines which can come into play on its 13 holes. The 64 sand bunkers and large mature overhanging trees are also a threat. Not as obvious, but still treacherous, are the small greens. The course was designed by the flamboyant architect, Stanley Thompson, and opened in 1925 as a private country club on land leased from Cleveland Metroparks. The course opened to public play in 1963. The Scottish links influence can be seen throughout the course. Both nine holes go out, turn around and come back. The early holes on both nines play down hill and down the prevailing wind, therefore seeming shorter than the yardage indicates. The incoming holes play uphill and into the wind, and can play surprisingly long. Some golfers have noted the huge greens on holes #2 and #12 among the other 16 small greens. Those were at one time double greens (currently another par 3 hole #6), which was not an uncommon practice during the period the course was designed. It would be hard to find another course where so many holes are praised for their aesthetic beauty as well as playability. Hole #2 is an impressive par 3 and with the tees back, it's a driver tee shot for all but the longest of hitters. It is followed by par 4 hole #3, which stretches 495 yards from the farthest tee position. The back nine is shorter and more strategic. It features #14, a short par 5 and #17, a short par 4 which are both classic risk/reward holes!

The Golf Club of Bucyrus

The Golf Club of Bucyrus is a Par 72 golf course that can be stretched out to 6331 yards. Although not one of the longest courses, position play golf is key. Scoring is critical on holes 1 through 6, as hole 7, a par- 5 that can reach 575 yards, is the toughest hole on the course. The stretch from hole 7 to hole 9 is a difficult closing 3 holes on the front that demands keeping the ball in the fairway to avoid the tree lines on both sides from tee to green. Starting from hole 10, keeping the ball in play is crucial on the back nine. These holes reveal an old traditional golf course, where distance is not crucial. The trees surrounding the fairways and elevation change make for an exciting round of golf. As you make your way to hole 18, you will finish your round on a challenging par-3. Topped out at 210 yards, be sure to take in play the uphill change in elevation. The Golf Club of Bucyrus has a beautiful layout that is set for a round to remember. With distances suitable for any golfer, yet providing a challenge to even the low handicap golfers. Don't miss out on a tremendous golf experience!

Jasper Hills Golf Club

Originally opened in 2000 as “Sebastian Hills”, the 18 hole course was unique with its creative layout and concrete cart paths and brought in many, many golfers over the nearly two decades that it was open. The course closed permanently after the 2017 season. After numerous attempts to sell, the course overgrew and seemed completely hopeless to return as the years ticked by. But then in 2021, a new hope was sparked. Local residents decided to take a chance on this 18 hole dream. Their love for the beauty of the land the course sits on inspired them to bring it back to life. It truly was a mountain of an undertaking, but they were up for the challenge. The course has new owners, new vision, new business plan, new everything but the beautiful piece of property the course sits on. The course remains the same layout but nearly every other aspect has been be given new attention and love

Manakiki Golf Course

Located 17 miles east of downtown Cleveland, Manakiki Golf Course is an elegant public course. The classic Donald Ross design offers a variety of challenges including doglegs, water hazards, up-and-down shots, back-to-back par 5s, short, long, tight, and open holes, and two canyon holes. Manakiki is rich in history. Its name is believed to be a Native American word for maple forest and was suggested by the predominance of maples along tree-lined fairways. The 200 acres were originally the summer estate of Howard Hanna, a prominent Cleveland indusrialist. The property was then obtained by a group from the Willowick Club and converted into Manakiki Country Club. The Hanna Mansion was expanded into a beautiful clubhouse. In 1963, the east wing of the original Hanna Mansion, which mirrored the existing west wing was torn down due to a small fire and deterioration. The west wing was recently renovated to preserve its structural integrity and history. In 1944, the property owners, Janes and Fannie Brown, offered to donate the course to the city of Cleveland. The city graciously declined to offer and it was then sold to Cleveland Metroparks for one dollar, under the condition that it must forever remain a golf course. A plaque in honor of the former owners still stands near the18th green. From 1944 through 1960, Manakiki was operated as a private country club. On January 1, 1961 after the country club's lease was not renewed, Manakiki was open for public play. Manakiki offers many great holes; #8 was considered the most difficult par 4 hole on tour in the '50s when Manakiki hosted the Carling Open. Hole #15 has also been selected as one of Cleveland's best par 3 holes. An electric trolley once carried golfers from the 15th green up the steep slope to the #16 tee. The mirror image canyon holes #10 and #18 are among the finest start and finish to nine holes in the country. In 1990, a master plan was developed to renovate the golf course and restore much of its original character. The plan included installing water and irrigation systems, building a pond on hole #3, and restoring a pond at hole #15. Tees were rebuilt or restored on holes 6, 8, 9, 13, and 15. A continuous cart path was also constructed to assure that golf carts may operate regardless of weather conditions. In addition, sand bunkers that were taken out will gradually be restored to their original state.
