Valleaire Golf Club

Shhh...don't share this Ohio golf secret with anyone! Since the word is out, you need to golf the Valleaire Golf Club which is Northeast Ohio's best "un-kept" secret. What makes this course, which is about 35-minutes south of Cleveland, so special? We say its the raw natural beauty and quality staff who ensure you're having a great day. The Valleaire Golf Club is very playable, a course where average golfers will find themselves looking at a few birdie putts. It also has some difficult holes and tough greens; staring at a putt for triple bogey will not be a rarity. It's a beautiful layout, cut from soft hilly forest and manicured with a professional touch.

Hamilton, OH

Potters Park Golf Course

Old munis are often beloved places to play, and such is the case with Potter’ s Park Golf Course in the City of Hamilton, Ohio. This classic design is fun for golfers of all skill levels and provides one of the best value golf experiences in southwest Ohio. Golf has been played on the site since 1927. Potter’ s Park Golf Course, which spreads out over 100 housing-free acres, has been city-owned and operated from day one. The short and sporty test boasts an impressive history, as, most notably, 14-year-old Jack Nicklaus triumphed in the Tri-State High School Invitational here in 1954 and carded a 64 in doing so. A unique par-69 layout, Potter’ s Park Golf Course’ s features a front nine that follows a standard par-36 formula with two par 3s and two par 5s, and a short, par-33 back nine that has?three par 3s?and six par 4s. Players can choose between three sets of tee markers: 4,256 yards from the forward tee box, 5,086 from the middle, and 5,354 from the back markers. Potter’ s Park Golf Course has old-style character with a mix of tree-lined uphill and downhill holes and straightaway and dogleg holes. Water enters the fray on five holes. The longer front nine is the tougher side. Most of the greens at Potter’ s Park Golf Course are small, round and fairly flat. While the playing field has only a few sand traps, the bunkers have recently been redone and they are situated in strategic locations. Many players opt to walk Potter’ s Park Golf Course, as the only challenge is a couple of steep hills. If you prefer to drive, the facility has a new fleet of carts. Practice facilities at Potter’ s Park Golf Courseare limited to a putting green. The rather spartan clubhouse features a modest golf shop and a snack area where you can get hotdogs and other items. There’ s indoor seating and an outdoor patio. The course is beautiful in fall but closes for the season when the weather worsens. For an affordable tee time on a pleasing, picturesque, historic layout that dates back to the 1920s, don’ t miss out on a tee time at Potter's Park Golf Course in Hamilton.

Chardon, OH

Chardon Lakes Golf Course

Chardon Lakes Golf Course opened in 1931 with 9 original holes designed by Bert Way, who also designed Firestone North and Mayfield Country Club. In 1963 the "new" nine opened, designed by Don Tincher and Carroll Bazler. Mr. Tincher, our current Pro Emeritus, has been at Chardon Lakes since 1950. In the early seventies he hosted American Cancer Society Benefits that included appearances by Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer. Jack's score of 67 from the back tees still stands as the course record. As recently as 2001, Chardon Lakes has hosted several qualifiers for the Cleveland Open, which was a stop on the Nationwide Tour, The fact that none of today's young guns could break Jack's record stands as a testament to the challenge of our layout. As challenging as our course is from the tips at 6775 yards, several tee options provide playability for all skill levels. Winding through 120 acres of mature trees, ambling creeks and several ponds, players enjoy a classically designed and scenic course. Along with 43 sand traps and water in play on 11 of the 18 holes; our most talked about features are our large, sloped and quick greens. Our staff at Chardon Lakes is committed to providing a positive playing experience in a beautiful setting. For years, we have been known as the public course with a private course atmosphere. We invite you to come walk the fairways and greens that Jack and Arnie walked. Just minutes from home.
