UNC Finley Golf Club

UNC Finley Golf Course in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, is the home of the North Carolina Tar Heels Men's and Women's golf teams. It was originally built by Raleigh businessman A. E. Finley in 1949 to a design by George Cobb. Further holes were added in the 1980s along with renovation of the clubhouse. In 1999, designer Tom Fazio remodeled the course into a par 72 layout with five sets of tees ranging from 4,981 to 7,220 yards in length. Most recently, Carolina Golf Legend, Davis Love III renovated the course in 2023, transforming it into a par 70 layout, creating a unique challenge for the Men's and Women's golf teams. The course notably hosts the annual Ruth's Chris Tarheel Invitational and has been a host site for NCAA and USGA Regional tournaments.

The Goldsboro Golf Course is not your everyday municipal golf course. Built in 1941, the golf course was completely renovated in 1999 under the supervision of renowned golf course architect John LaFoy. The renovated course features large ‘Champion’ Bermuda greens which average over 6,000 square feet each, 419 Bermuda fairways and concrete cart paths throughout. Goldsboro Golf Course has the best practice facility in the Wayne County area. GGC features nine practice mats, a 20 station grass hitting area, practice bunker, chipping green, and four strategically placed target greens all with laser shot exact distances. Golfers of all levels and abilities can improve their game. Lessons by appointment are available from Obie Agbasi, PGA.

Broadmoor Golf Links

Broadmoor Golf Links is a unique, 18-hole golf course in Fletcher, North Carolina. Located 15 miles south of Asheville in western North Carolina where private golf predominates, this Karl Litten design has been a popular, public, daily fee tee-time option since it opened in 1993. Though the Blue Ridge Mountains surround the golf grounds, this is not a mountain course. Broadmoor Golf Links calls itself the only links-style layout in the region, but many golfers say it reminds them of a Florida layout. The playing field rambles on very flat terrain with water looming on twelve holes. The French Broad River Valley runs through a few of the fairways. Broadmoor Golf Links wide fairways enable golfers of widely varying skill levels to have a fun time on this challenging layout. With Six sets of tee markers ranging from 4,071yards to 7000 yards, everyone can find a manageable distance to play from. Litten layout calls upon players to execute a few exciting shots over water. On several other holes the hazards loom hard by the landing areas and greens. Bunkers add still more defense of par around the greens. Broadmoor Golf Links features medium-size putting surfaces with modest undulations and breaks. True to the links-style game, both aerial shot making and bump-and-run plays along the ground come in handy at Broadmoor Golf Links. All four of the par 3s are long, as are three of the four par 5s. Only the short par-5 18th is readily reachable--It gives many players a good chance to make a birdie and go home happy. Broadmoor Golf Links prides itself on keeping the pace of play moving at a four-hour clip per round. This is a lovely course to walk. Practice facilities include a driving range, a chipping green and a putting green. The spacious clubhouse features a fully-stocked pro shop, men's and women's locker rooms, banquet rooms for outings, a bar and grill dining area, and an outdoor veranda. For a memorable round on a picturesque playing field just outside of Asheville, make a tee time at Broadmoor Golf Links. Olde Sycamore Golf Plantation

Routed through the rolling hills of Carolina tall pines, Olde Sycamore Golf Club is one of the best golf courses open to the public in the Charlotte area. The course, which opened in 1997 and was honored by various publications, was designed by Tom Jackson, who is responsible for many great layouts in the Carolinas. The course measures 6,965 yards from the tips, and has seven sets of tees, starting at 4,724 yards, catering to every level of player. The generous fairways are hybrid Bermuda, leading up to beautiful, undulated new Bermuda grass greens. The course also has strategic bunkers and do a great job of framing the holes as well as challenging the golfers. Olde Sycamore has a nice collection of par 5s, including the 12th, which is 600 yards from the tips. But it's the par-4 ninth that's the no. 1 handicap hole. At 442 yards, it's long and difficult, with a pond in front of the green that must be carried on the approach shot. Trees, however, are probably the course's biggest defense, with thick groves of pines lining most holes. The 13th is a great example. Playing just under 400 yards, it's a sharp dogleg left, which means positioning off the tee is critical. In addition to the golf course, Old Sycamore Golf Club also offers excellent practice facilities, which include a full range, practice bunker, chipping greens and practice putting greens. Inside the clubhouse is a fully-stocked golf shop and restaurant and bar, which offers appetizers, sandwiches, burgers, pizza and a wide variety of beers that include local craft brews.
