Hattiesburg, MS

Hattiesburg Country Club

The golf course has matured and evolved into a unique test of shot-making skill, which was enhanced in 1999 after an imaginative redesign by Max Maxwell and Nathan Crace, ASGCA. Today, our 18-hole, par-72 golf course is recognized as one of the finest and most enjoyable in the state. HCC has hosted numerous tournaments over the years, including the U.S.G.A. qualifiers, State Amateur Championships, and State Opens. From 1968 until 1993, HCC hosted the PGA TOUR’s Magnolia Classic, originally held in April during the same week as The Masters, and as a result, some of the biggest names in professional golf walked among the towering pines lining the course’s fairway. Players who were just starting out in their careers or had not qualified for The Masters played in the Magnolia Classic. Some of the world’s greatest players, such as Nick Faldo, have walked the hills of Hattiesburg Country Club at some point in their careers. Some of the more notable champions include Craig Stadler, Roger Maltbie, Russ Cochran, Jim Gallagher Jr., and the late Payne Stewart who won his first Tour event here in 1982.
