St. Louis, MO

Walters Golf

The location chosen for this project was 660 acres in southern St. Charles County between Interstate 70 and U.S. Highway 40. In the mid-1980's, St. Charles was centered primarily around the I-70 corridor. However, with Whittaker's knowledge and resources and Walters' experience with Bogey Hills, the pair had the perfect recipe needed to turn their vision into a reality. The result was Whitmoor Country Club, which currently serves the community like no other family club. Discussion about creating the Walters Golf Management company first occurred in 1992. At the time, the company managed both Bogey Hills and Whitmoor, but we understood that we had too few properties to support a golf management company and provide it with credibility and stability. history21.jpgAn opportunity to add another property to Walters' portfolio presented itself in 1993. While on a plane returning from vacation, Walters and his friend Jeff Smith, who at the time worked for the PGA, created a proposal for an upscale 18-hole public golf course on a stack of cocktail napkins. The pair was awarded the project, again teamed with the Whittaker Family, and construction of the Missouri Bluffs Golf Club began. During construction of this Tom Fazio-designed course, WGM decided to give the public a sneak peek of the property to increase the excitement that surrounded its upcoming debut. Six months prior to opening, a three-day preview of the golf course and clubhouse was held. We only expected to welcome about 500 people on each of the three days. However, the excitement level in the golf community was already very high and ultimately more that 7,500 people toured the incomplete project during those three days. Upon its grand opening in 1995, The Missouri Bluffs Golf Club was named the third best public golf course in the country to open in 1995 by Golf Digest.

West Plains Country Club

Welcome to golf in the Ozarks! You'll find that golf at the West Plains Country Club is fun and challenging for golfers of all skill levels. Westborough Country Club

Westborough is a great 18 hole regulation course located at the Westborough Country Club facility in Saint Louis, MO. From the longest tees it offers 5,727 yards of golf for a par of 68. The course was designed by (R) Gary Kern, ASGCA and opened in 1908. The course rating is 67.7 with a slope rating of 126. Poplar Bluff, MO

Westwood Hills Country Club

Since 1936, golfers have enjoyed a challenging round at one of Missouri’s finest courses. Westwood Hills Country Club’s immaculately groomed golf course features eighteen holes of rolling hills, challenging obstacles and spectacular views. We are proud to offer daily play from 8 am until sunset. The WHCC also sponsors a variety tournaments throughout the season. These include the Ozark Invitational, multiple 2 and 3 Man Scrambles, Junior PGA Series, Powderpuff, Mixed Pares and weekly Hit and Giggle events. Amenities include a fully stocked pro shop, expert measuring and fitting of clubs, and putting and chipping green. The course provides ideal areas for golf lessons and for seasoned golfers to sharpen their skills.

Whiteman AFB, MO

Whiteman AFB Royal Oaks Golf Course

Owned and operated by the USAF, now open to the public, is located 1/2 block from Whiteman AFB, Missouri. A beautiful 18 hole course with a challenging layout. Royal Oaks features 350 acres of rolling hills and wooded areas and provides the golfer with a quiet, serene place to get away from the noise. It is not unusual to see wildlife in and around the course in a natural setting. Four sets of tees, give the course variety that can be enjoyed equally by either the serious golfer looking for a real challenge or the weekend golfer looking for fun and relaxation.

Saint Charles, MO

Whitmoor Country Club | North

You start your round on the North with a slight dogleg right par-4 (441 yards from the back and 256 from the front). A large lake, thick with cattails and brush, runs down the right side of the fairway so slicers need to be extra cautious. Drifting right can mean the loss of your ball. But trees and an out-of-bounds area lurk on the left as well. “But players need to favor the left side to get the right angle to the green,” said Maine. Next you meet No. 2, “effectionately known as 'The Monster,'” said Maine. This signature hole on the North won its nickname partly because of the 10-acre lake running down the right side of the fairway but also because of No. 2's length. It's a spectacular and super-size par-5 (605 yards from the back and 413 from the front) so even the best and longest players need three shots to reach the green. You'll be making your approach to the green with a carry over part of the lake that's 100 yards wide at its narrowest point. “Every shot here has a hazard in play, and it's almost impossible to reach the green in two shots,” said Maine. “For your tee shot, you need to stay left avoiding the water hazard on the right. Your next shot is a lay-up where the player will try and leave him/herself an approach shot of 150 to 125 yards to the green.” Your next hole is an all uphill par-3 with pretty good length (203 yards from the back and 118 from the front). You'll need an extra club to reach the elevated green. Just be sure to look for the pin and hit the correct tier with your tee shot, according to Maine. “If you're on the wrong tier, it almost always means a three-putt.” Lots of narrow fairways run through the North, and one of them is No. 5, a par 4 that measures 377 yards from the back and 301 from the front. Mounds and an out-of-bounds area stands on the left and trees and an out-of-bounds area lies to the right. An accurate drive on this straight par-4 is imperative. “No. 7 is a great hole,” said Maine. “It's a sharp dogleg right and you need a good tee shot.” First you need to hit a fairway wood or long iron to the middle of the fairway on this par-4 that plays at 402 yards from the back and 331 from the forward. “The more of the hole that you try to bite off from the tee, the narrower the fairway gets, putting both length and accuracy at a premium,” said Maine. Whitmoor Country Club | South

The South Course at Whitmoor has many of the same features as the North, but with added length. From the Black or the Blue tees, the South is one of the toughest tests in the St. Louis Area. It also sweeps across the rolling terrain with a more open feeling and gives players a true taste of the local countryside.

Winghaven Country Club

Nicklaus Design has been well recognized for their quality golf course layouts constructed throughout the world. WingHaven Country Club ranks as one of their best, providing Members and Guests a golf experience that is easily enjoyed over and over. The course can play as long as 7,230 yards from the Gold tees, however, offers a total of five different teeing areas to allow all skill levels a chance to challenge themselves appropriately. When strategizing on what style of layout to design, the owners of WingHaven, in cooperation with Nicklaus Design, focused on a layout that provided for top level competitive golf while emphasizing playability for the average golfer. Several greens are designed in an amphitheater setting, which creates viewing space for spectators. The fairway landing areas throughout the course are generous; however the approach shots are more demanding. Several approach shots require negotiating a Nicklaus Design signature deep bunker or water hazard.
