Carter Plantation

Carter Plantation is home to PGA championship and Louisiana native David Toms' first signature design and the course is the recent recipient of Golf Magazine's "Top 10 Courses You Can Play". The spectacular 18-hole, 7,000-plus yard, par-72 golf course winds through three distinct Louisiana landscapes - live oak flats, cypress wetlands, and upland pine forests. The visually stunning daily fee course has a Louisiana Golf Association slope rating of 140 and a course rating of 74.4 from the championship tees. Both the front and back nines consist of two par-3s, five par-4s, and two par-5s. Eighty-six strategically placed bunkers offer surprise and challenge to the golfer. Carpeted with Tifeagle on the greens and Tifsport on the rolling fairways, each of the holes offers four or five tee positions, with water coming into play on eleven of the holes. Great effort has been made to preserve the plantation's native wildlife habitats, and indigenous grasses and plants have been extensively incorporated into the landscaping.

Zachary, LA

Copper Mill Golf Club

Designed by golf course architects Max Maxwell and Nathan Crace, the championship course at Copper Mill is a refreshingly eclectic mix of old world shot-making and contemporary agronomic conditioning. Weaving its way through open fields of native grasses, centuries-old solitary live oaks, and a landscape dotted with strategically placed bunkers, you may forget you are in South Louisiana-save for the two holes that precociously crisscross Cypress Bayou. Another unique feature of Copper Mill’s layout is its combination of holes with three par 3 holes, three par 4 holes, and three par 5 holes on each nine! This mix makes for not only a change from the rudimentary arrangement encountered on most courses, but also adds a degree of excitement to both tournaments and "friendly wagers" alike. Copper Mill’s course promises to raise the expectations for golfers throughout Louisiana and beyond with unique features, a multitude of risk/reward opportunities, and breath-taking golf vistas too numerous to count! And the course was skillfully routed through its natural setting to provide not only spacious fairways and playing areas, but also some of the best golf course home sites in Louisiana without the feeling of "crowding" the golf course.
