Boots Randolph

Lake Barkley “Boots Randolph” Golf Course located in beautiful Cadiz, Kentucky on the border of Land Between the Lakes, lies this wonderful test of golf. This course has a meandering stream that is fed by the Big Blue Spring that will come into play on half of the holes. Both nines are laid out along the valley floor with no blind shots. Most of the fairways are tree lined, and nearly all of the greens are well bunkered. A difficult hole is #6, a 517-yard, par 5, with a ninety-degree dogleg left fairway and a well-protected green. Designed by E. Lawrence Packard, ASGCA, the Boots Randolph golf course opened in 1972.

18 Holes, Par 72, Blue Tees - 6,987 yards, White Tees - 6,501 yards, Red Tees - 5,362 yards. Kearney Hill is a premier public golf course, located in northwest Fayette County. Totally unlike any other golf course in the area, Kearney Hill Links has drawn rave reviews from golfers. It is a Scottish links-style course, characterized by open, rolling terrain, deep sand and grass bunkers and a few trees. The wind is a very important factor in playing the course. Kearney Hill Golf Links has had the privilege to host such events as the Senior PGA Tour, Celebrity Players Tour, PGA Junior Series, the 1998 Men’s United States Amateur Public Links Championship as well as many local and state championships. In 2007, this course will host the 2007 Women’s Amateur Public Links Championship. The course was designed by famous golf course architects Pete and P.B. Dye, who have designed numerous unusual courses around the country, including the PGA West Stadium Course in Palm Springs, CA. the TPA at Sawgrass in Palm Beach, FL., and Crooked Stick Golf Club in Carmal, IN. They now have added a Lexington landmark to their list of creative masterpieces.

Devou Park Golf Course

Golfers have long enjoyed playing Devou Park - the Covington area's premier public golf course. Devou Park takes golfers through rolling hills and scenic views of downtown Covington and Cincinnati, presenting a championship layout that presents its own set of challenges for both the expert golfer and novice beginner. Opening in 1922, the front nine was originally crafted by golf professional John Brophy. Architect Gene Bates completed the 18 hole course with the second nine opening in 1995. The 6,091-yard layout offers plush Rye Grass fairways and greens and a fun and enjoyable experience for golfers of all abilities. Devou Park is enrolled in the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Golf Courses to ensure that the course helps to protect our local environment, conserve natural resources, and provide wildlife habitats.

18 Hole, Par 72, Blue Tees - 7,061 yards, White Tees - 6,706 yards, Red Tees - 6,274 yards. Property acquired through a lease with the Kentucky American Water Company in March 1968. The course opened in July, 1970. Lakeside Golf Course is situated on approximately 185 acres, adjacent to Jacobson Park and Jacobson Lake. The facility includes a golf shop, snack bar and a driving range. The course is described as long and open with large greens. There are water hazards on three holes. Lakeside has the longest par 5 hole in the state of Kentucky at 651 yards. Lakeside is open year-round except for Christmas Day. The course opens for play 7:30 am until dusk. Tee times are reserved seven days in advance.

Kenton County Golf Courses features two distinct layouts - The Pioneer course and the Willows course. Pioneer is the more forgiving of the two while Willows provides a true test of your game. Pioneer: As the name indicates, it was the first course built at the Kenton County complex in 1968. The Pioneer course is 5,880 yards with a rating of 68.4, a slope of 115, and a par of 70. It is like most mid-western courses, slightly sloping on the front nine with increasing slopes on the back. Willows: The Willows course plays to 6,697 yards from the championship tees. Rated in the top 10 public golf courses in Kentucky. Par 72, and the course rating is 72.6 and the slope is 137. It was designed by Dr. Michael Hurdzan. The Willows is a real challenge of golf, for any level player.
