Tampa, FL

Pebble Creek Golf Club

Floridians are serious about golf. With all the sunshine and the year-round season in their state, the game is almost a way of life. That’s why it’s such high praise that many in the Tampa golf community consider tee times at Pebble Creek Golf Club among the best in the area. Located in the convenient New Tampa area northeast of USF and Tampa Palms, Pebble Creek is best known for its exceptional layout and scenic, native Florida woods and waterscapes. Each hole is unique, connecting a series of lakes that factor into play. It’s also not uncommon to spot alligators (they won’t hurt you), sand-hill cranes, egrets and other wildlife. Mature, 40-year-old Grandfather Oaks, Magnolias and Pines line the fairways. It all adds up to one of the best options for Bay Area golf.

Venice, FL

Plantation Golf & Country Club

Serene natural views and sparkling fountain-sprayed lakes set the tone for an inspired day of golf at the beautiful golf courses at Plantation Golf and Country Club. Our Ron Garl-designed 36 holes of championship golf in Southwest Florida feature two distinctive layouts with the Bobcat (opened 1982) and the Panther (opened 1987), providing challenging play and a rewarding golf experience at every level. Maintained year round, Plantation's courses are perfect for those who demand the finest playing conditions. The Club's commitment to excellence puts Plantation among the greatest private golf courses in Florida and the proud home for the LPGA Annual Tour Qualifier. Their first event was held at Plantation September 1988. The Panther course was opened for play in 1987. Ron Garl also designed this compliment to the Bobcat to be distinctly different in look and presentation to players. Unique to the original design were many fairway pot bunkers and several sharp dogleg holes. While this track is not quite as long as it's counterpart, the Bobcat, it is definitely more tricky. Architect Stephen Key produced a renovation here in 1999. through that effort the greens complexes were enlarged, made more undulating, included more dramatic bunkering and installed the new TifEagle bermuda grass for a more durable surface and certainly quicker putting surfaces. Holes #12 through #15 are referred to as the "Panther's Claw" and for deserving reasons. Plantation hosts the annual LPGA Tour Qualifier and each year the shorter Panther course averages at least on shot more difficult than the Bobcat.
