Course photo for DeBary Country ClubPublic tee-time evidence

Debary, FL

DeBary Country Club

Located north of Orlando, this 18-hole, par 72 course was designed by Lloyd Clifton. Four star rated in 2004-05 by GOLF DIGEST, the course is part of a vibrant semi-private country club community. Most holes are set away from the community by a buffer zone of dense woods and vegetation. The setting is more reminiscent of the Carolinas than Central Florida, and The National Audubon Society has certified the habitat as an official bird sanctuary. The Carolina feel is strengthened more by lack of water, exemplified in that the course features just one water hazard that comes into play by the 9th and 18th greens. These finishing holes join together and create a beautiful backdrop to the luxurious clubhouse. With great course conditions, undulating fairways, and greens that roll true and fast, it's no wonder why DeBary is consistently chosen as a U.S. Open Qualifying site.

Lakeland, FL

Links of Sandpiper

The Links of Sandpiper golf course is a par 71 course offering 4 sets of tees ranging from the blue tees at 6,000 yards to the forward gold tees just over 4,000 yards. The golf course is a Links style course with rolling terrain, setting up some blind shots and doglegs. The undulating greens are protected by bunkers and the fairways are lined with oaks and pines. Water can come into play with an errant shot on most of the back nine holes. While both challenging and fair, The Links of Sandpiper golf course is definitely user friendly and allows players the chance to use every club in their bag. From par 3’s that start at 120 yards from the back tees and stretch to 215, it allows for all shot types. The par 4’s offer a variety of challenges from short with small greens to long with larger greens. The golf course allows players to test every part of their game, and while the par 5’s are definitely birdie opportunities, you can’t take them too lightly. From out of bounds just off of the green to water strategically placed, you could walk away with a large number if you’re not careful.

Largo, FL

Bardmoor Golf and Tennis Club

Bardmoor Golf & Tennis Club, located about 20 miles from Tampa in Largo, Florida, boasts a championship golf course that has earned a reputation for being one of the premier places to play in Tampa. In 2019 the readers of the Tampa Bay Times voted it Tampa’ s Best Golf Course. Ever since debuting in 1974, the club has kept a high profile. Bardmoor Golf & Tennis Club hosted the nationally televised JC Penney Classic, a mixed team tournament sponsored by the PGA and LPGA tours, for thirteen years. When you have a tee time to play on this picturesque Florida-style layout where water looms on every hole, you’ ll be walking in the footsteps of such legendary players as Arnold Palmer, Fred Couples, Greg Norman, Nancy Lopez, JoAnne Corner and Juli Inkster. In 2003 Gary Koch renovated the golf course and just recently the club finished a project to expand and improve all of its tee boxes. Four sets of tee markers enable players to test their skills from as short as 5,054 yards to as long as 7,015 yards. Bardmoor Golf & Tennis Club is both manageable and fun for ordinary golfers and a challenging test for higher skilled players. The layout features generous landing areas and large greens. Though water hazards abound throughout the golf grounds, there are only a few forced carries. In most instances, the water is not an imminent threat and players can find a way around it if they so choose. The other defenses of the course are straggling trees that can block or obscure access to the greens, strategically placed bunkers, and large TifEagle greens that feature pronounced slopes. Bardmoor Golf & Tennis Club sports a fun collection of par 3s as well as a quartet of par 5s, each of which presents a different challenge. Further enhancing the golf experience, Bardmoor Golf & Tennis Club’ s new fleet of golf carts includes state-of-the-art GPS with Pace Technology. Bardmoor Golf & Tennis Club stakes its claim for the best driving range in the Tampa realm, as hitting is done off of seashore paspalum turf. Additional practice facilities include a pitching green with practice bunkers and a large chipping and putting green. The clubhouse is home to a fully-stocked golf shop, a pizzeria and grille restaurant, and banquet facilities. The next time you are looking for a tee time in Tampa, consider Bardmoor Golf & Tennis Club, a long-time favorite conveniently situated just minutes f

Course photo for Sanibel Island Golf ClubPublic access under review

SANIBEL, FL

Sanibel Island Golf Club

Sanibel Island Golf Club (formerly known as Beachview Golf Club) is one of two courses located on a small barrier island just 20 miles from Fort Myers, Florida. The original nine holes of this highly playable course date back to the 1970s, making it Sanibel Island’ s oldest golf facility. This sporty layout spreads out over 150 acres amidst an upscale residential community and a spectacular natural environment toward the middle portion of the island. Sanibel Island GolfClub calls itself a course “ inspired by nature.” When you have a tee you’ ll be treated to scenes of prolific birdlife and you may also see alligators, crocodiles, iguanas and bobcats. While you can’ t see the beach or the ocean from anywhere on the playing field, the twisting Sanibel River traces the boundary of a large portion of the course. Wetlands and thick vegetation also line the fairways, so accuracy is must on this somewhat short layout. Four sets of tee markers (plus a combo option) give players judiciously-spaced distance options between 4,595 yards and 6,337 yards. The par-70 layout features four par 3s, twelve par 4s, and just two par 5s. The two long holes bring each nine to a close. Sanibel Island Golf Club boasts an impressive collection of par 3s and a rousing finishing stretch of holes (15-18) that all play beside the river. Water and wetlands loom as hazards on no fewer than 13 every holes, but only two holes require forced carries over penalty areas. The putting surfaces at Sanibel Island Golf Club are rather small and tilt from back to front. Practice facilities at Sanibel Island Golf Course are limited to a putting/chipping green. The course does not have a driving range. Sanibel Island Golf Club’ s clubhouse is home to a pro shop and a restaurant and bar that is ideal for toasting your round and enjoying the sunset. For a relaxing day of golf on a fun, nature-filled layout that everyone in your group should be able to handle, consider a tee time at the beautiful Sanibel Island Golf Course.
