Leesburg, FL

Arlington Ridge Golf Club

Arlington Ridge developers chose the talents of golf professional and NBC-TV commentator Gary Koch because of his proven ability to build golf courses that are fair and fun to play. But don't be fooled: enjoyable doesn't mean easy—but it doesn't mean hard, either. It's a fine balance that stretches your limits in a fun and rewarding way, no matter your skill level. The Arlington Ridge Golf Club championship course features a river that winds all along the southern boundary. Centuries-old oaks have a commanding presence throughout all 18 holes. These majestic oak canopies provide picture-worthy backdrops to greens and fairways along the way. Ranging from 4,877 yards from the front tees and 6,610 total yards from the back tees, the course's respectable par 71 is truly member-friendly. With 5 sets of tee boxes at each hole it's the kind of course you can play every day and have a new challenge each time. If you're a good golfer, you'll enjoy the subtle nuances of well-placed hazards, elevated greens, and dogleg approaches. If you're a beginner, you'll still have a great shot at finishing a good round. In short, everyone heads to the 19th hole happy.

Course photo for Viera East Golf ClubPublic access under review

Viera, FL

Viera East Golf Club

Viera East Golf Club, a championship course in Rockledge, Florida, is a favorite tee time for golfers who reside in the region between the Space Coast and Melbourne. The course, which weaves its way through a master-planned residential community, regularly earns raves for its picturesque, fun and challenging layout, its lush turf and fine course conditioning, and its friendly service. Joe Lee designed Viera East Golf Club in 1994. It’ s a track suited for golfers of wide-ranging abilities and ages. With six different sets of tee markers plus two additional hybrid options, everyone can find an appropriate distance to play from between 4,179 yards and 6,669 yards. Though lots of homes line Viera East Golf Club’ s fairways, the layout’ s water features make a bolder impression. Lakes, channels and other water forms are present on most holes. In some instances, the water features serve a primarily aesthetic purpose, while in others the hazards pose a more pressing threat to your score. A couple of holes call for thrilling shots over water, but otherwise you can make your way around the penalty areas. Viera East Golf Club also features plenty of Lee’ s trademark elaborate bunkers both in the fairways and beside the greens. The fairways are quite generous. Just beware of the out of bounds by the houses. Viera East Golf Club is especially proud of its elevated TifEagle grass greens that roll fast and true. At times they run at about 11 on the stimp meter. Playing conditions should be improved with the installation of a new drainage and irrigation system. Viera East Golf Club’ s recently renovated practice facilities include a driving range, short game area chipping, practice bunker, and a putting green. The updated clubhouse is home to a large, fully-stocked pro shop and a restaurant. Recent improvements have elevated the Viera East Golf Club experience, making it a choice tee time just minutes from the shores of Cocoa Beach.

Lakeland, FL

Cleveland Heights Golf Course

Visit Our New Website! www.clevelandheightsgolf.com HISTORY OF CLEVELAND HEIGHTS Sensing an opportunity to promote their city, the Lakeland Chamber of Commerce invited H. A. Stahl, a Cleveland, OH real estate magnate, to visit the city in late 1923 for the purpose of “studying the possibility of developing a large subdivision in the area.” Stahl purchased 560 acres on the south side of Lake Hollingsworth for $935,000.00. Before the end of the year he had several of his development staff from Cleveland to oversee the construction of the development, which is known as “Cleveland Heights” named after Stahl’s home city. To provide recreational opportunities for the residents of Cleveland Heights, Stahl included plans for a golf course. The golf course and the clubhouse, the latter built on the shore of Lake Hollingsworth, opened in the spring of 1925. By 1927, due to the depression, financial difficulties struck and Stahl lost his investment. The city took over both properties for delinquent taxes by the end of the decade. The City of Lakeland continues to own and operate Cleveland Heights. The city further added nine holes to the original eighteen-hole layout in the early 1980’s. The original clubhouse became home to the Lakeland Yacht and country Club in 1935. TODAY AT CLEVELAND HEIGHTS Home to the annual 4-Ball Golf Tournament and the Major League Scramble, Cleveland Heights has over 120 members. Cleveland Heights is truly a unique golf experience. The clubhouse, renovated in 2001, boasts over 20,000 square feet and offers an extensive breakfast, lunch and evening lounge menus. This 27-hole facility, a Division of the Parks and Recreation Department for the City of Lakeland, offers golfers of all abilities the opportunity to enjoy the sport.
