Created within a quiet, natural foothill setting of mature oak trees and rolling hills, San Juan Oaks is the brain child of PGA TOUR PRO Fred Couples and award winning course architect Gene Bates. The front nine plays through a valley replete with lakes, interconnecting streams and native grasslands. Play into some of the holes on the back nine takes the golfer 150 to 200 feet above the valley floor for some spectacular views of pristine California countryside. The course offers five sets of tees on a layout that measures more than 7,100 yards from the back tees and 4,770 from the front, allowing golfers of all abilities to enjoy the course. A full length driving range with grass tees and five target greens provide ample practice area, with teaching professionals available on staff.

This course has a lot of character and style. We also have 2 Practice Putting Greens and a Night-lighted Driving Range. The clubhouse facilities features a fully stocked Pro Shop, The Caddy Shack Café, a spacious Banquet Facility with a capacity of 320 plus guests and a quaint Gazebo.

Ponderosa Golf Course

When you want tee times in Truckee, head to the one public course in the area -- Ponderosa Golf Course. This nine hole Truckee golf course layout was designed by the prolific golf course architect, Bob Baldock. It first opened for play in 1961, so all those trees that are now over a half-century old will easily interfere with wayward shots. From the back tees, Ponderosa measures 3,022 yards and plays to a par of 35. The slope is 113, and the course rating is 34.1 from those back tee boxes. The first two holes are down in a valley and beautifully framed by willow trees. The third hole takes you up a substantial hill to the green. The final hole is a par five. Keep it in play, and you'll have an opportunity to conclude with a good score. Get Ponderosa Golf Course discount tee times at a course that offers practice putting and chipping areas and practice nets. This complete facility has a pro shop and snack bar as well. In terms of scenery and challenge among public nine hole layouts in this part of the state, Ponderosa is one of the best golf courses in California. One reviewer said that all of the holes were nice, and that the scenery was awesome.

Callippe Preserve Golf Course

Located only a short drive from San Jose or San Francisco, Callippe Preserve is sure to be a unique and memorable course. Designed by Brian Costello, of JMP Golf Design Group, "Callippe Preserve was designed to cater to the wide spectrum of players anticipated to frequent the facility", says Costello. There are five sets of tees on this par 72, with the black tees playing at 6,748. The blue tees measure at 6,409, then the white tees at 6,024 yards, the gold tees at 5,560, and the red at 4,788 yards. Varieties of terrain are spread throughout the course as the front nine is routed through the valley and the back nine sits on a higher elevation with the Happy Valley Creek winding throughout. Superior views of Mount Diablo fill the sky line to the north and incredible sanctuaries dedicated to the Callippe Butterfly are displayed on holes 11 thru 14.

Tee times at JW Marriott Desert Springs Valley Course and the JW Marriott Desert Springs Palm Course--a pair of Ted Robinson Sr. designs from the mid-1980s that have been updated by Ted Robinson, Jr.---are fully open to public golfers at all times. Throughout his career, the late, elder Robinson, who did several designs in the Palm Springs realm, earned a reputation for building fun, highly aesthetic, player-friendly golf courses that players of all skill levels can enjoy. That’ s certainly the case at the JW Marriott Desert Springs Palm Course, one of his signature creations. Locals and visitors alike favor it because it is the easier of the two courses and because of its array of postcard-worthy holes adorned with thick palm trees, colorful flowers, and picturesque water features. Robinson, who was known as the “ King of Waterscapes,” populated more than half of the holes on the JW Marriott Desert Springs Palm Course with water hazards featuring clean border lines and decorative stonework. The water holes raise the excitement level throughout the round. While some of the ponds and lakes on the JW Marriott Desert Springs Palm Course sit away from the strategic line of play, others are right in your line of attack. The first case in point is the pretty par-3 3rd hole, which requires a carry over water to reach the putting surface. The final four holes of the round, all of which are water-bound, make for the most impressive stretch of golf on the JW Marriott Desert Springs Palm Course. The 17th is a par 3 with an island green and the spectacular finisher, with water all up the left, comes right back to the epicenter of the JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort & Spa. The pleasant aspect of Robinson’ s design, the tall palm trees, the brilliant blue sky against the backdrop of the Santa Rosa Mountains, and the water features set the tone for a memorable day of golf at the JW Marriott Desert Springs Palm Course.
