Lincoln, CA

Lincoln Hills GC - Orchard Course

WELCOME TO LINCOLN HILLS GOLF CLUB! Lincoln Hills Golf Club is home to two different courses; The Hills Course and The Orchard Course. The Hills Course challenges golfers with an assortment of golf holes ranging from risk/reward par 5s to bombs-away par 4s, but it’s arguably the par 3s that reflect the character of this 6,853-yard track. For example, the par-3 12th plays downhill with wetlands to the right and behind the green. The hole is as picturesque as it is challenging, and like many of the holes on The Hills course, close scrutiny to the day’s pin sheet as well as sound course management are required to score well. The generous corridors and expansive fairways of the Orchard Course impart a feeling of openness as the layout unfolds over the rolling hills and natural wetlands common to this neck of Placer County, California. Manicured fairways are framed by daunting hazards and pockets of pine, oak and redwood trees that add to the golf course’s aesthetic appeal as well as to the risk/reward challenges. Although The Orchard Course is best defined by its long and challenging par 4’s, it’s the short par-4 sixth hole that attracts the most birdies. A variety of waterfowl such as Egrets, Herons and Canadian Geese have chosen to roost in a large oak situated behind the green.

Course photo for River Oaks Golf ClubPublic access under review

Nicolaus, CA

River Oaks Golf Club

Set on the Feather River just north of Sacramento, River Oaks Golf Club offers a challenging course with a nice variety of holes. Formerly Rio La Paz, the course opened in 2000 and was designed by former PGA Tour player and now TV analyst, Peter Jacobsen. It plays nearly 6,500 yards from the tips, and there are four sets of tees, starting at around 4,700 yards. Jacobsen eases the golfer in with a front nine that's more flat, though there is some mounding. The fairways lead to large greens, and there are water features and bunkers. The back nine is probably a little more difficult with sharper doglegs. It also has two par 5s as opposed to just one on the front side. And they are both scoring opportunities. The 13th is 545 yards, but the fairway is fairly wide on this dogleg right. The 15th is 517 yards, and it's a dogleg left. So longer hitters will certainly have opportunities to go for the green in two shots. The par-5 fifth, which plays 545 yards, is one of the tougher holes on the course, with a pond that protects the front of the green. In addition to the golf course, River Oaks Golf Club also has a driving range, short-game area with practice bunker, and practice putting green. Inside River Oaks' magnificent Spanish style clubhouse is a well-stocked golf shop as well as a bar and grill. Golfers and guests can dine indoors or outdoors on the patio. Banquet and meeting facilities are also available.

Auburn, CA

The Ridge Golf Course & Events Center

The Ridge Golf Club has a truly an exciting layout for golf, a course in the golden foothills of California designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., known the world over for creating golf holes that take full advantage of their sites while preserving the natural beauty of the land. At The Ridge, you'll find a series of oak-studded knolls and hills with lots of rock outcroppings and splendid views. There's a 100-foot elevation change on the course. This feels like wide open country with no homes nearby. You're really going to experience the natural world of the foothills when you play a round with us. Jones used 48 bunkers on our 170-acre site to enhance the demands of this rugged layout. You'll also find water on several holes of this par-71 course. But there are four sets of tees here so you can choose how many tests you want to face. "It doesn't have to be a difficult course," said Greg French, retired director of golf at The Ridge. "Every player of every skill level can have a good time playing here."
