The Canyon nine is considered the most difficult, followed by the Ridge nine and the Hill nine. The Ridge/Canyon Combination was ranked by Golf Digest as the 59th Best Golf Resort Course in the U.S. for 1992, and the 13th "Best in State" course for 1995. These are typical desert-target courses, featuring many changes in elevation, plus elevated tee boxes and greens.

Goodyear, AZ

Palm Valley Golf Club - Lakes Course

Palm Valley Golf Club's two distinct 18-hole layouts, superb conditions, and complete practice and dining facilities make it a true gem of the West Valley and a must play destination for those visiting the Phoenix area. It's a supreme challenge for the low handicap golfer yet forgiving for someone who wants an enjoyable experience regardless of the score. The Arthur Hills-designed Palms Course, a par-72 layout that covers 7,015 yards from the back tees, features one of the finest closing holes in the region -- the par 5 18th with a lake on the left side of the fairway that wraps around a three-tiered green. The par-62 Lakes Course, designed by Hale Irwin, offers a shorter, quicker round of golf although no less of a challenge. The Lakes Course winds through the desert with many of its greens guarded by water. Palm Valley features a well-appointed golf shop, practice facility and the Fairway Grille, a full service bar and restaurant with several big-screen TVs plus a spacious patio offering spectacular views of the golf course and surrounding mountains. Palm Valley also is home of the Waterfront Pavilion, a popular venue for weddings, banquets and special events. Less than 20 miles west of downtown Phoenix, Palm Valley Golf Club is located in the heart of the West Valley's top sports and entertainment venues -- just minutes from University of Phoenix Stadium, Jobing.com Arena, Camelback Ranch (spring training home of the Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago White Sox), Goodyear Ballpark (spring training home of the Cincinnati Reds and Cleveland Indians) and Phoenix International Raceway.

Littlefield, AZ

Palms Golf Club

The Palms Golf Club, located in Mesquite, is two golf courses in one. It's a perfect blend of traditional and desert golf that will both challenge and reward players. The Palms' front nine is an old-fashioned, all-grass layout with wide, friendly fairways. The back nine provides a trip through and around deep canyons for a true desert test. Both nines add up to 6,860 yards of the kind of challenging resort golf that is the Mesquite trademark. Both nines are enhanced by many sparkling water features (if your ball avoids the water). Both nines also are very well bunkered with 45 greenside bunkers in all. From the back tees, the four par 5's are medium length ranging from 485 yards to 545 yards respectively. Six of the par 4's measure 400 yards or more, while the four others play less than 370 yards, giving a nice overall balance and plenty of scoring chances.
