About the course
Understand the course before making an access claim.
Sodus Bay Heights Golf Club, once a farm, is characterized by its rolling hills, which create a number of uphill, downhill and sidehill lies. That is one of the major challenges of the course. The other is the winds whipping off Great Sodus Bay and Lake Ontario, which change frequently, so you never know what to expect. There are water hazards on four holes, with a major creek crossing the fairways and creating a huge pond at the end. Fairway and greenside bunkers are the other hazard. The course plays 6,682 yards from the championship tees, 6,316 from the men's tees and 5,529 from the ladies. The signature hole is the 5th, a 458 yard downhill par 4 with water crossing the fairway at 300 yards and a pond on the left about 240 yards from the tee. It plays into a severely elevated large green, surrounded by three traps. The course isn't exceedingly long, but the rolling hills and winds create conditions that are challenging for all levels of golfer.
