The Donald Ross influence, courtesy of a 1917-1919 Ross renovation, and an ambitious 2001 David Esler restoration consistent with Ross principles, is unmistakable. The backdrop is an iconic Spanish Mission-style clubhouse resplendent with charm and character of days gone by. Don't be seduced by the lush grounds that evoke thoughts of European gardens, nor by the course's generous tree-lined fairways, and reasonable length. (Remember that 6300 yards is considerable for a par 70 layout.) Distinctive greens and diabolical bunkers will challenge your game to the fullest. You'll need every club in your bag, especially around the greens, to be sucessful here. Ravisloe is a must play for anyone who loves the game of golf.
