Fairfield Golf Club has quite the history. These days it is a favorite tee time destination of St. Louis golf and Belleville golf lovers. But years ago this Columbia golf course started life as a farm. It was eventually bought by the Krause family in the 1960s, who added a 10-acre golf course practice area. Fairfield Golf Club has now been owned by Krauses for three generations, and it has become one of the most popular Southern Illinois golf courses. It now features an 18-hole, par-71 layout with rolling hills, narrow zoysia fairways and small, undulating bent grass greens. It’s a challenging round of golf that never becomes too difficult to enjoy.
