The 18-hole "Bent Tree" course at the Bent Tree Golf Course facility in Charleston, Illinois features 6,240 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 70. Like many courses in the area it began in the mid-80's with 9 holes being constructed and then an additional 9 added in the early 90's. The two nines have totally different appearances and playing characteristics. The front nine is the longer of the two and is also relatively wide open. The back nine, however, is for the most part wood-lined as well as having water coming into play, in some fashion, on every hole. The waters between the 18th tee and the island green 115 yards away is a graveyard for many many golf balls.
